Don't worry, I get the same impression and I am not fan of xbox one. It is sad state of affairs, but it happens when certain fanbases feel threatened by the smallest notion they might not be on top.
Also more to Canada market relations to the United States, they very similar markets but Canada is 10% the size, so usually it has 10% of the sales. Amazon is playing big part here as well, and generally if you live in the big cities, it is almost better to order online on amazon for insane sales than try the stores.
Prime itself gives 20% off any preorder purchase, and sometimes you get 33%-50% around E3 for games that will release in the fall.
