The wii u was never positioned as a secondary console until after it was beaten by both the ps4 and Xbox one (it was damage control). Third parties never had power on the wii u (except for Ubisoft which is why they were the most supportive). That was the biggest reason why Bethesda and ea left. nintendo designed a console with a gimmick in mind, not for developers (much less third parties). Therefore all third parties left and took their respective fanbases with them |
WiiU got Assassins Creed, COD, Splinter Cell, Need for Speed and stuff like that. EA announced a "Unprecedented Partnership". 3rd-parties were supportive for WiiU in the beginning.
