English class would be foreign language. But I'm out of school for a long time and have learned to think for myself. Also, a dictionary is not for defining things, but explaining shortly a meaning.
For that you have encyclopedias. But looking around, you find the following
But in this case, you just need to read your definition:
"an electronic system that connects to a display (as a television set) and is used primarily to play video games"
Connects to a display, the TV-set is given as an example. Wikipedia has exactly the same definition: "A video game console is a device that outputs a video signal or visual image to display a video game."
So Webster also includes handhelds, although they don't elaborate much on the basic definition.
