Its my thread, should I sit back and let it be derailed with nothing but attacks towards Kotaku? I let the 1st page slide but when it became clear that no one was going to talk about the authors points I had to intervene. I want people to discuss the authors points and if they seem valid, not moan about Kotaku all day long. Everyone knows that Tachikomas fairly outspoken so if she has issues with my points me she'll let me know straight to my face (avatar). Outside of two Japanese reviews and one favourable import review (from a site that would be ignored under normal circumstances) all we have are Japanese user reviews and import previews/threads to go by. As you mentioned they can go either way but that initself raises interesting questions. GAFS import thread has various reactions from positive to lukewarm. Also Kotaku didnt call the game bad, but boring. All my questions towards Tachikoma have to deal with "engagement", will people give a damn when playing or will it be a grind? With the new standards of RPGs how will players receive the game, thats the discussion I want to have. While theres a language barrier the game is already out and none of the core mechanics will change drastically so I dont think theres any harm in talking about it. |
Discussing the quality of Kotaku is on-topic, as it is Kotakus preview you posted, so no derailing in this. And nobody addresses the points in the preview, as nobody can - the game is unreleased here. Talking about it being boring is also highly subjective, what is boring for one can be thrilling for someone else. So we have nothing really to discuss about at this point except the quality of Kotaku.
