I only read the OP but I agree with Pavolink.
Poor Marketing + Combined with Delay is what put DKC:TF in this situation
In fact, Nintendo's Wii U Marketing has been bad across the board
Expecting a single game to move many consoles is ludicrous and a hype fever dream, even a bunduru can only go so far. Nintendo's advantage is their "library" from their "head start" if they can't market that well then their own games will be strained by their marketshare.
