That's fine for Wii U since multiple people will use a single console.  I wish they'd find a way to let me and my daughter share digital 3DS games.  Nobody wants to share their portable.  I want to play some of the games I bought her but I don't wanna buy them twice!  

You can also have a home console in the living room and an extra one in the kids room, and you'd also want to share the digital purchases between them. That's the reason why I still buy retail because I actually own the game, since Nintendo's digital purchases are tied to the hardware.
