Mainly because that would require some actual effort on their part, and God forbid they actually advertise their games so that people other than the most loyal of the loyal Nintendo fans know they even exist.

Hey Nintendo fans... want a sequel to the cult classic Eternal Darkness, a true StarFox game, or a new F-Zero racer with awesome track design, visuals and music? Well fuck you... here's Mario Kart 8 and a simplistic 3D Mario game... deal with it!

             Yeah! Fuck them for funding Bayonetta 2 and the Wonderful 101! Fuck them for making Mega Man a SSB4 character, something Nintendo fans have been wanting since Brawl was revealed. Fuck them for making a sequel/successor to Xenoblade even though it didn't have Mario Galaxy numbers! Fuck them for making Pikmin 3, a game, fans have been begging for since Pikmin 2 arrived on the GameCube. Fuck them for starting for a partnership with Sega for 3 Sonic games and fuck them for starting a partnership with Atlus to bring SMT X FE over to the Wii U!
