It is obvious Sony offers less with this model so they basically forced themselves to reduce the entry price. If the 160GB HDD is the only difference between these models, I don't get the point at all. How much is a 160 GB HDD for Sony these days? $20? $40? So they save $40 for this model and offer the console for $70 - $100 less. (from $249 --> $149 / $179) Maybe you are right and Sony is like: "Okay, we fucked up with the PS3, now let's see if we can at least make the best out of it for the PS4." But even that would be stupid IMO. I mean you are looking at a 500 Million USD - 750 Million USD investment with this price cut. I just can't believe such a company is blinded by their ego in such a crucial fincial situation. |
Id imagine they've noticed how well the 4GB 360 does and want a piece of that pie. It'll be a cheaper model for the more casual crowd and judging by the lineup for this Year, its certainly the target. Finally being able to break into that sub-$199 market with a new model and focus probably sounds brilliant to the higher ups.
