The iPad 3 may not be a specific gaming device, but it and the PS vita are both very expensive pieces of tech and are definately in competition. Just like the smartphone market and gaming market, the tablet market and the gaming market are becoming more and more occluded by the day, and consumers dont have as much disposable income as before when the PSP launched. So the PS vita will have enormous problems trying to establish itself in todays market, especially when you factor in that 3g for the PS vita is 2.5x the price that it is on the iPad. Oh, and some PS vita games such as Uncharted: Golden Abyss cost £40 as well, but with the iPad you can purchase great games for a fraction of that price.

My prediction threads:
Wii U will sell under 40m units (made on 14th September 2012)
PS Vita will sell under 20m units (made on 30th September 2012)
Wii U will sell under 7m in 2013 - I was right
