The DS was supposed to bring this kind of interaction into the Wii. Making it an extra screen where you could see additional information or an extra input control, for example to introduce text.
| DS Interaction The Wii and DS are able to communicate wirelessly with each other to mutual benefit. The DS can be used as a Wii control input; or Wii owners can download demos for the Nintendo DS through WiiConnect24 and send them to the handheld using its download play option. |
This hasn't been used that much, but there has been software that has used it like Pokemon, Echoes of Time or Band Hero. I've tested it out in My Word Coach, which only let you play one part of the software in the DS. The input method was much easier to use than the IR, but took a bit of time to set it up.
