Don't blame Team Ninja!
The bad things about the game such as the ridiculous characterization were all Sakamoto. Ironically, Team Ninja were behing the awesome animation and trying to get the 3D gameplay to work despite some crazy things that Sakamoto insisted upon (such as playing with just a Wii remote and nu nunchuck).
