This game is as hardcore as it gets

That video looks great. I was going to get Need for Speed Nitro when I get back home but I'm going to keep my eye on this one. Might take my purchase.

4 player splitscreen and at least 8 players online would sweeten the deal for me with this game.

You guys/gals never played Trackmania before???? It's based around doing time trials.
You all better get over to trackmania.com and get Trackmania Nations, the free PC version NOW.

So is it only time trial or can I race vs against someone. I like the way it looks since I've been looking for a good arcade or sim racer to cocmplement Mario Kart Wii.

I want to see this in motion to make my mind up.

You can race against other people but their is no collision, you are only a "ghost" and aren't affected by other player. The best way to know if you would like the game is to download Trackmania Nations for PC. It's free and while you can only play the Stadium environment and theirs is less track for it, it should give you a good idea how the game is. The other environment just change the car physic and the type of tracks.
