7 out of the top 10 are Nintendo published games, the rest is from HD consoles.

I don't know what more is there to say.

So you're saying that "flying off the shelves" is a relative concept?

In that case, it's also safe to say that "only Nintendo games fly off the shelves" historically? I mean, the top 13 games ever are all by Nintendo.

Nintendo software is so dominating that 3rd parties can't even compete on consoles Nintendo doesn't sell games for CONFIRMED!!!

Lol.

On another note, I'm wondering how this Nintendo domination in the top will be at the end of the gen. In other words, how low will "GTA: San Andreas" go?

Games that may pass it:

Mario Kart DS, Wii Sports Resort, NSMB:Wii. Anything else?

Joystiq trolls everything... its their style and personally I love them

Vote the Mayor for Mayor!

nah, that's just typical joystiq snark, something they generally dish out equally. I've been reading them for years, and i know the difference between normal joystiq and stealth-trolling joystiq.

I'll give that.

Why don't we ever see something like this??

PS360 software flew off the shelves, proving that PS360 games sell ... as long as they're published by 3rd parties.

The same reason why Zucas's attempt at that didn't work.  Because the HD twins have a combination of both 3rd AND 1st party games that sell millions, while on the Wii, the only games to ever break the top ten charts and ever break the million barrier or higher seem to be Nintendo 1st party only.

Low software sales for third party developers? Why is that looked at so negatively?

Nintendo has always had a large share of software sales and just because Nintendo is winning the gen doesn't mean that this has to change. Things are just skewed so high up for Nintendo that now, even with the low market share that third party devs have, they still make more sales going with the Wii over the 360 or the PS3.

This puts Nintendo in an amazing situation.

Being a Nintendo fan, I would have to say that 360 fanboys and PS3 fanboys are jealous of this fact, as now we have Nintendo outselling the 360 and PS3 COMBINED, while simultaneously selling almost all of the software for the console. Nintendo is making so much bank right now compared to Sony and Microsoft.

I don't see the bad side? Nor do I see any change in how Nintendo usually performs.

It's more because third parties don't know how to follow Nintendo's lead than Nintendo is magically stealing sales from them.

Sales and profit wise the situation gives a lot of advantages to Nintendo, but there is a drawback: it gives Nintendo more than to other console manufacturers, the honour and burden to support its own platform, Sony and MS can sometimes rest and sometimes even enjoy boosts from 3rd parties' actions, like FFXIII, MW2, MGS4, etc, Nintendo OTOH must almost always give 100% to gather its extra share, when Nintendo slows down, 3rd parties aren't strong enough to keep the momentum. It's natural, though, money doesn't fall from sky, even when at a first glance it could look so. But another good thing for Nintendo is that even when Wii isn't at its best competitors manage to surpass it only if they are running at full steam, like PS3 after its price cut and Slim release and before Wii's cut. So a "curse" quite light and easy to bear...

"proving that wii games sell......as long as they are published by Nintendo"

people that are defending this cannot read. This quite means that 3rd parties games don't sell on wii at all, period. The fact is wii sells more 3rd party software than 360 or PS3, end of story, joystiq fails. You can talk about how the percentage of 3rd party software sold on 360 and ps3 is so much higher, but the overall volume of 3rd party software sold on wii is higher.

Lol, and people saying what you are saying can't comprehend what they read.  This means that the only Wii games that sell well (million+ or at least 500k+) are Nintendo games.  Sure, 3rd party software as a whole sells more on the Wii than on PS3 or 360.  That's only logical considering the userbase size and the sheer volume of titles availabe on the Wii, shovelware or not.  But of all those third party games, the sales individually fall short in comparison to 3rd party games on any other console and fall way short of Nintendo published games.  Joystick wins.  You fail.
