HD Market is flooded with FPS games yet they manage to keep selling fine.

This "Too many rail shooters" excuse does not cut it.

Maybe wii owners wants to be flooded with FPS games and not On-rails?

-Edit-

And I agree with Lolcislaw. FPS games are much more popular and appeal to more players. Bad comparison

Should have bought The COnduit then.  Even Haze managed 800k despite HD consoles flooded with more FPS games than Wii is with rail shooters.

Well the Conduit is not the only FPS's on the market, and it is not a great game anyway, its an all right shooter developed by small unknown studio, with a degree of support from Sega. It definately Underperformed, but so did many games on HD consoles (and Free Radical went bust after Haze)

Let's look at FPS's games developed by more acclaimed teams, with a brand name or decent marketing behind it. (something that sells on HD consoles)

Red Steel sold well, CoD:WaW sold decent, CoD 3 sold million, Modern Warfare will reach million (despite all CoD games being gimped ports)

I see this same pattern as on HD consoles games with: budget, brandname and marketing sell well.  The ones that rely on word of mouth dont, or internet promotion don't.

I would love to see sales of Resident Evil (drop in other big franchise) based On Rails Shooter on 360 or PS3.

I am happy people aren't buying this game. I hope they lose money on this. How can u make redc rail shooter and expect core people to buy it. They know that people bought re4 wii. Why did they buy it because the game was sick with wii controls and was a new experience with the controls. Who do u think bought re4 it was core gamers duh capcom. Don't be lazy and think people will buy anything RE. RE isn't Mario sorry. We core gamers will not spend money on a rail RE game. You can have my money easily if u make a real RE game with wii controls no port and actual new game. Use nsmbwii four player on one screen four example, that game is fun with people. Make a resident evil game that i can play with my friends and family. Make rewii with multiplayer split screen story mode please. Online would be cool but don't have too.

Semantics... People boughtResident Evil 4 Wii Edition and Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles. There is no reason to not give the fans of a proven market, the type of game that is shown to sell. You know just like I know, Resident Evil 4 sold amazingly well for a port. Hell, it sold amazingly well as a stand alone title. If this were thee HD consoles, they would have pumped out six sequels and four side series by now. They are not giving us what we want. Plain and simple. Their own sales show we want a proper Resident Evil title.

You forgot to say the Wii is D00med!

Nintendo is the best videogames company ever!

Well.. The Conduit (an average game with a bad campaign and problems with online) sold bad but a great port (MW: Reflex) of a 2 years old game is selling pretty well without advertising.

Because FPS games are popular and HD owners wants more. On-rails aren't popular and Wii owners wants something different.

Rail shooters on the wii are a fad confirmed. The rail shooter market is now open for the taking. Now all the rail shooters will release on the PS3 wand thing and sell 10 million copies confirmed.

I'll really miss House of the Dead Crazy Over the Top Killing, Dead Space Expulsion and RE: Sagas of the Las Plagas.

those fps games have usually 20-40mln advertisement campaigns(or more like games like MW2, Killzone 2, Halo 3 etc) while most wii core titles have advertisement budget simillar to my daily food budget which is 7$.

I am only going by my personal experience with people I know, but third party core gaming on the Wii is all but dead.  We got the Wii first(early 2007) among the Next Generation consoles.  An we did buy the first/third party core games that came out in 2006-2007 (like Twilight Princess, RE4 Wii Edition, Metroid Prime 3, and Super Mario Galaxy).  The problem was in early 2008, there were only two AAA core games available (Brawl and Galaxy), and post E3 2008, there was crap like Animal Crossing and Wii Music, which we tried and disliked.  In the meantime the HD Consoles were getting AA titles week after week, with no end of new announced titles for the future.  So we did what most reasonable people will do, we got a PS3 and an XBox360 (well most reasonable people would only get one of the two, but that's beside the point).  Since then 80% of our gaming time is spent on the HD systems, and of the 20% time spent on the Wii, the bulk is spent on Wii Fit and EA Sports active.  We regularly buy good HD games, but only rarely buy Wii games (got NSMB Wii, and Metroid Prime Trilogy, passed on Punch Out and don't need nor want MW Reflex, Conduit, MadWorld, or any of the on-rail shooters).  I don't see this changing next year.  We will likely pass on Red Steel 2, NMH2, and think about getting MH3 and Sin and Punishment only if the reviews are really good.  SMG2 will be a day one buy, and Metroid Other M probably as well.  Too many good games are coming out on PS3/XBox360 during next year, to spend time and money on the lesser Wii games.  If we are an indicative family, then it’s bad news for third party core games on the Wii.  They better make sure that they are well reviewed, exclusive to the platform and with high production values if we are expected to give them a look.

You mean I won't have a chance to buy three full priced On-Rails shooters this year? Gee whiz!

Capcom, just go with what Carl has told you. Just give Wii owners RE5 (without the title screen, so be it). In fact, you can make it easier on yourselves by getting rid of Sheva for an easier HD-Wii development process. None of us will miss her anyways... in fact, the game could be even better that way.

Its funny, all this bad mouthing the on-rails shooters on the Wii and those games/genre is the reason I am getting a Wii.
