i think they should just give it another try with natal
since most of developers from taht country sounded excited about it
after that if it doesnt work then just cut off japan from xbox 360 future

I think their next major attempt will be with Natal. They've had top Japanese game designers talking about it from Capcom, Konami, Tecmo, FromSoftware, Sega, Namco Bandai, etc, and I would be very surprised if there hasn't been any backroom deals made.

It will be interesting to see what exclusives will be available there at launch, especially ones that cater more to Japanese audiences and from Japanese developers.

We also haven't seen what Itagaki is up to or the big game that Mistwalker has been working on for the past 2 years.

Is it really that the Japanese people do not appreciate what Microsoft has done for them or that Microsoft did not do much to address major complaints when it mattered and that people have given up?

Either way, if Natal does not catch on, there really is not much to do for a while.

Well I don't see any exclusive jRPG's on the release list for 360 atm, but these4 things go in cycles, perhaps they'll announce a number of them this year to be released in 2011. If they don't then yeah it's probably over.

The idea is to increase market share with each generation, they did that with the 360 and I'm sure the next gen will do even better. I also think that Natal could be a systems seller in Japan with the right software.

Was it not worth it? Microsoft managed to actually get their system a toehold with the Xbox 360. Now, maybe next generation they can build upon that with some actual brand recognition to their name. Not saying this is the case, but it's a possible scenario..

First we had a poster that didn't know what RROD is and here's another that hasn't heard of Natal.  I wouldn't be surprised if questions about those two things came from people that didn't follow console gaming but it's surprising to see them in a forum like this one.
