Forums - Gaming Discussion - IGN quiz: Dragon Age vs. Mass Effect 2

http://games.ign.com/articles/103/1039025p38.html?

My personal result:

Result: Leaning toward Dragon Age: Origins

There's nothing particularly wrong with aliens and lasers, but the whole futuristic space thing just seems a bit silly to you. You can appreciate what BioWare is trying to do withMass Effect 2, but you'd prefer to keep it real with an old-school RPG like Dragon Age: Origins. There's something a bit cold and soulless about the world of science fiction in videogames, and you're looking forward to seeing a living, breathing medieval-style fantasy world come alive in Dragon Age. So if you can only pick up one or the other, you'll probably want to go the swords and sorcery route.

What's yours?

Same as yours, even though I love Mass Effect and think that dragon age is mediocre.

I found Mass Effect a bit mediocre, and a complete waste of time for BioWare when they COULD have been working on the Single Player KOTOR game everyone wants.

Should get Dragon Age in the mail any day now.

Yet, today, America's leaders are reenacting every folly that brought these great powers [Russia, Germany, and Japan] to ruin -- from arrogance and hubris, to assertions of global hegemony, to imperial overstretch, to trumpeting new 'crusades,' to handing out war guarantees to regions and countries where Americans have never fought before. We are piling up the kind of commitments that produced the greatest disasters of the twentieth century.

Definatly gonna get Mass Effect 2 and im toying with getting DA:O because i can get it for $40 at KMart for black friday... hmm i wish i had more money and it would be a no brainer

I mostly play RTS and Moba style games now adays as well as ALOT of benchmarking. I do play other games however such as the witcher 3 and Crysis 3, and recently Ashes of the Singularity. I love gaming on the cutting edge and refuse to accept any compromises. Proud member of the Glorious PC Gaming Master Race. Long Live SHIO!!!!

I agree. KotOR 3 would be fucking epic.

But ME wasn't bad I just didn't care for the combat.

Western role-playing games aren't for everyone. Let's face it, you just can't get enough of Japanese RPGs, and that's OK. Don't fight it by trying to like Mass Effect 2 or Dragon Age. You might get some fleeting fun out of them, but let's face it – they're just not your thing. You prefer a linear RPG experience that guides you along a predetermined path. You believe that leads to a more directed storytelling experience. Aliens and dragons are alright, but you'd prefer a steampunk setting and some hot anime girls with cute creatures as pets. And what's the big deal with all these "choices" BioWare is trying to shove down your throat? The only decision you need to make is whether to turn the Japanese voice track on or off.

I don't know how this came about... I love Mass Effect more than any Final Fantasy game.

Fits me entirely as I've been a Baldur's gate fan from a long time ago, and Dragon Age is finally is going to saciate part of that BG thirst :D

Current PC Build

CPU - i7 8700K 3.7 GHz (4.7 GHz turbo) 6 cores OC'd to 5.2 GHz with Watercooling (Hydro Series H110i) | MB - Gigabyte Z370 HD3P ATX | Gigabyte GTX 1080ti Gaming OC BLACK 11G (1657 MHz Boost Core / 11010 MHz Memory) | RAM - Corsair DIMM 32GB DDR4, 2400 MHz | PSU - Corsair CX650M (80+ Bronze) 650W | Audio - Asus Essence STX II 7.1 | Monitor - Samsung U28E590D 4K UHD, Freesync, 1 ms, 60 Hz, 28"

I love both games. I love Mass Effect the most though. The quiz is f'n dumb. Why put two games from the same company up against each other? I know they will be one of the two top two RPG's this gen, but good lord.

I too love both games, Mass Effect's combat system isn't exactly what I was looking for in RPG, but the story, the universe and artistic design made up for it.

I'm currently 11 hours into Dragon Age Origins and I freakin love it! Just one recommendation, if you have decent PC, get the PC version, it's superior to the console versions and specially the Xbox one by a large margin. Also mouse + keyboard combo is really better than gamepad here.

MY HYPE LIST: 1) Gran Turismo 5; 2) Civilization V; 3) Starcraft II; 4) The Last Guardian; 5) Metal Gear Solid: Rising

I've never been a fan of story/graphics and I've always played RPGs to make a killing machine and to blow shit up. DAO does it in spades and ME is just eh...
