LOL of course they do, that'd be blasphemy if it didn't have any USB ports. I saw this girl in class whip out a netbooks and I facepalmed (don't like netbooks) and she put in a flash drive on the side so yea it has USB ports. @l337 gamer How are you getting a free copy? Hmm, I wonder if my school will give out a college discount on 7 like they did with Vista. |
^there ya go. windows 7 (home edition) for 30 bucks if you have a valid college email adress. I would've updated already if it wasnt for the fact that this laptopns' screen died (using an external monitor) and i'm sending this thing in for repairs this weekend. And all this "windows 7 is truly awesome" makes me a very unhappy boy..meh.
As for mac prices - from what i understand the only time when they are comparible is within the first 2-months ish from a new model launch. they never drop their prices but bring out revised hardware every year, so that means theres a good 80% of the year when mac prices are disgusting - and as a college student i despise how new model launches seem to be late in the year (read: after college students already bought their crap, meaning most mac buyers got price raped unless there was a good bonus deal - ala the free ipod touch last year or 2 years ago). bah...
um..stuff
The attack ads will continue. Apple just goes after anyone they can, it's kind of their way...

why the hell would anyone want home premuim? the upgrade cost to professional or ultimate would still be retarded. Might as well get the one use system builder editions.

The download of the student deal is weird. Rather than an ISO (like it was with the RC download), you have to run their software to unpack the data, but it seems to always error when it's nearly done (the one I see is something about read only files).
There is a work around that I found and I was able to create an ISO from it, but I wont be able to install it till I get everything backed up and partitioned.
Also, you can make that Windows 7 Professional instead of Home through that deal. When you register your college e-mail and you click on the link they send you, there'll be some text hightlight yellow about if you need some kind of network feature for your university and when you click it, you'll be offered Windows 7 Professional for the same price. However, you can only get 32-bit or 64-bit so I had to just stuck with Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. I'm sure I'll make more use of the potential once I can do some of the upgrades I want. Even a small step up to a more powerful dual core CPU and 4 gigs of ram would be helpful :P
I just saw a Windows 7 ad.
I thought it was really well done. Didn't attack Macs.
I can't find it on YouTube, but the tag line was "I'm a PC and Windows 7 was my idea."
Brilliant.

Thanks, I see that I can get professional for 30, but it still says "preorder" which is weird since right next to it, it says "release date: 10/21/2009."

you do now that all the main versions are very similiar, pro and ultimate mainly have extra languages( ultimate) and xp mode( both), other than they are similiar, Also the ram limits do differ but I dont know by how much, I know that pro and ultimate have a max ram of 192 gigs
