Forums - Sony Discussion - GT5 can be released anytime PD wants..

I didn't say "DjFlex trolls GT" you are waay too defensive. Thats a sign of a guilty conscience.

I was refering to the 360 fans who act like their shit dont stink. I'm sick of hearing them whine and complain "Wah we are out numbered" Maybe if they pulled their head out of their ass and stoped complaining they'd realize how many 360 supporters there actually are on this site. There is a great deal of them. Or how about the "Wah Ps3 fans just complain about Forza" maybe if they took a look at GT threads they'd see the opposite.

Huh? I'm too defensive? Please.....

And the only thing i'm guilty of is pointing out...why did you have to bring up Forza, 360 fans etc. in the first place? There's no reason to it in this thread. If you are sick of hearing "them whine and complain", then make your own thread of your displeasure.

This thread was about PD and GT5...not Forza comparisons (too many of those threads) or 360 fans.

There hasn't been a set release date for GT5.

Kaz is a perfectionist, so he will want the game as perfect as possible before release.

Also, will people stop complaining about the time... Please.

GT3 EU release was July 2001

GT4 EU release was March 2005

GT5 EU release is likely to be March-July 2010

Since GT3 we have had an average of ~4.5 Year's release times for each GT game to have a full release. Considering that PD have also been working on Tourist Trophy, GT HD, GT5: Prologue, GT PSP and GT5... I'd say the time taken, along with the content (1000 cars, WRC, Nascar, damage, tracks, PS Eye stuff... etc.) is just about right.

@Carl2291

I've been trying to say the exact same thing in the past GT threads, but people who want to bad mouth PD are just going to keep on disregarding these facts.

Another fact is that they have worked in 3 (4 if you count GT5:P) games in the past 5 years. So 3 games in 5 years is a good average for a developer like PD.

Just a few thoughts:

Mentioning Tourist Trophy, Gran Turismo PSP and Gran Turismo 5: Prologue as excuses for the long wait for GT5 is absurd. All three games were akin to side projects since they all used a ton of available resources in making them. GTPSP and TT were built off of GT4 and Prologue was merely lifted off the work going into GT5. Considering all three are nowhere near the polish one would expect from a Polyphony Digital title they should be considered distractions. They had none of the heart and devotion you would expect, and were the exact opposite approach PD is taking with GT5. They all felt rushed and lacked key components you would expect in a racing sim. I'm fairly sure if it meant getting a year or two back on GT5's release, the majority of you would pass on all three games having been made altogether. I mean really. Tourist Trophy? The only time anyone even talks about that game is when they want to mention it's why GT5 is coming out in 2010. Then we can't forget all the time wasted working on the canned Gran Turismo for Boys and Gran Turismo HD titles along with the iTunes like store to go along with it.

The only reason this is being overlooked is because now we're upon GT5's release. Ask the same defenders what they think of the idea of releasing three underwhelming projects and canning two others all the while coming at the expense of a potentially 12 months or more shorter GT5 development schedule back in 2005, and they'ed have thrown a hissy fit.

To know your true feelings towards this, ask yourself whether you're willing to suspend GT5 for yet another side project to get top billing. Or another two.

@Onixmeth

That's isn't even remotely fair. If a company pours their resources to make a game, whether it's a side project or a full iteration of their main series, is still considered a game.

I've mentioned Tourist Trophy a lot in past threads that didn't have anything to do with GT5, because to me it still is the best Motorbike game ever released, and it has the depth and sheer driving passion than any GT game has had. Sure, PD has made some bad decisions in time management, but to say that they have released 3 underwhelming projects, it's just your point of view.

To me, both GT PSP, TT and GT5:P were worth the time, because as a racing fan, they were all quality games, even if they don't actually compare to a full GT game, they still encompass the view of racing games that PD has.

I'll be honest and say that I would have liked for PD to release GT5 earlier, but I also know to give credit when it's due and give the developers the benefit of the doubt, because to me and to the people who like and care about PD games, they have delivered so far.

But I'm guessing they don't want to release it until next year, so the comment really is rather pointless.

edit: According to PD, if they released it now wouldn't we be getting a 65-70% complete game?

Of course i would be pissed.

But the "side projects" were made when GT5 didn't have a release date. Now it does have a release date, i would be mega pissed off with PD if it got delayed.

And it doesn't matter if the games are "side projects" or not. They are still games and they still take up dev time. It doesn't matter if we want them or not... They are still there.

I wouldn't mind all these delays if the track editor was confirmed to be in the game...

 Well said.

I understand everyone wants a polished product but you have to admit this guys comments are not helpfull. This is the second time he will of said this and by the time this game gets to Western hands it could be a full year since he first made that comment.
