Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Why do so few care about Little King's Story?

One thing ive noticed is that for a game scoreing an 87/100 on Metacritic, theres very little interest shownon it by the genereal gameing community. There was little to no hype for it, it bombed horribly in "Others". Sales aside, what im most shocked about is that gamers admit its probably a great game, then procced to say they wont buy it.

Why?

The overwhelming majority of gamers who are even aware of Little King Story are turned off completely by the artstyle.

Also, the fact that it uses no IR or motion control just makes its place on the Wii unnecessary. If was going to use none of the systems feature, it might as well have been on the PS2.

I'm usually down to try things, but LKS is too much of a risk.

Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. "  thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."

For me it is a matter of priorities. While LKS looks really cool, I have other games I've wanted longer and I am finally getting around to trying. I will get LKS, but not right away.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

I get the game yesterday and love every single minute of it, It's the best experience since A Link to the Past. Now the lack of people interested in the game is more related to the artstyle more than the IR pointer (actually few instances in the game are worth of a IR pointer), it's the same curse as Okami and Zack and Wiki

Ill pick it eventually, Im just strapped for cash right now, and theres other games Ill look into 1st

Ignorance is the main reason; but no one has done anything to help the public overcome that ignorance. IGN and Gamespot flipped it the bird by giving it an 8.5 (it should be a 9.5, it's one of the best games out in a while). The Infra Red controls thing is fairly irrelevant in weight of the whole package, but reviewers don't point that out.

So the question is, how to help the public overcome their ignorance and get this game into the 400,000-600,000 range? More marketing dollars, word of mouth; more support from the online community, etc...

The Phoenix Wright series began with around 30,000 sales in the US market, and then the demand skyrocketed hitting Ebay with bids of over 150 USD. Now it has surpassed 1 million sales. That is how powerful word of mouth and online communities can be.

People need to discuss the game's interesting features and elements; the exploration aspects, the dark features, annoying the church with Polygamy and such, the shaping of society, etc.... Going by other similar games, the market for this type of game is over 10 million.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Check list:

Gunz = no

Sex = no

Bad ass main character = no

Block buster budget = no

F bombs = no

HD = no

online muliplayer = no

DLC = no

1000 x AA= no

Surely this game cannot be good.

Endure. In enduring, grow strong.

For the record I would be interested if this was a XBLA game. But a $50 Wii game... no thank you.

Well it's a niche gameplay system for one.

the pikmin series says hi.

anyway, i would go with the gaming communnity not having a soul, but it's ignorence really. few people have even heard of it in the first place.

crazy theory time! maybe when pikmin 2 npc comes out in the america's, it will help lks's sales?
