Forums - Gaming Discussion - What were the first, second and third RPG you have played?

1. Shining the Holy Ark (Saturn)
2. Shining Force III: Scenario 1 (Saturn)
3. Pokémon Blue (GameBoy) or 3. Final Fantasy VII (PlayStation)

I don't really consider Pokémon a RPG, but some people do, so I presented the two possibilities for the third RPG played.

2. Grandia
3. Legend of Dragoon
4. Wild arms
5. Tactics Ogre

Lands of Lore

Ultima Underworld: The Stygian Abyss

Ravenloft: Stone Prophet/Betrayal at Krondor (got them the same day).

A few posts earlier in this thread I posted my first three RPGs (Betrayal at Krondor, Lands of Lore: The Throne of Chaos, Ultima VIII) and I thought: I really liked Ultima VIII, but I wished I had discovered this series a bit earlier and played Ultima VII or one of the Ultima Underworlds instead, as many Ultima fans say they are much better than VIII.

While I did a little research on some Youtube gameplay videos of the first RPGs I played (my fourth was Stonekeep btw), I discovered that you can download the music of many Sierra/Dynamix games, incl. Betrayal at Krondor, from queststudios.com (with the permission of Sierra and the composers). I love the music of Betrayal at Krondor, especially the Main Title Theme.

I can't remember :P I can remember that my first ever RPG that I completed was Suikoden on the Playstation. I'm guessing Star Ocean II and Final Fantasy VII were the other 2.

1. A game released on PC in 1988 of which I don't even remember the name
2. Death Knights of Krynn
3. Dark Queen of Krynn

What is amazing?
This thread made me search for these old games I were fond of (especially the first one which I didn't own, played it at school, and could never finish it), and I discovered sites where they are available for FREE !!!!!!!!!
Now that I remember them, I recall these two games in the world of Dragonlance (a D&D world) were a mix between what would now be traditional JRPG, dungeon crawler (mostly represented in JRPG now) and SRPG (again a style of JRPG). No wonder I love SRPG so much, and I prefer JRPG.
Now I'm off to download these games and play them again.
Thanks a lot!

OKay so depending on your definition of RPG... this list varies, so i'll make it longer.

1. Zelda
2. Zelda 2 (more RPG than the first)
3. Battle of Olympus (close to Zelda 2)
4. Shadowgate (dungeon crawler)
5. Racoon City (errr beat them up with RPG elements?)
6. Dragon warrior (got turned off by the fight with menus... that one was a rental too so I didin't give it an other shot).

I think my first real turn based one that I played were the FFs legends (played adventure and well wanted the same thing but i still liked what I got). Then FFIV, breath of Fire.... and all the ones I could get my hands on on the SNES after that.

7. FF Adv
8. FF L 1
9-10-11 FF L2-3 IV

Edit:

OOps forgot some....

insert between 4 and 5 :

Les Chevaliers du Zodiac ( Saint Seiya ) (like zelda 2, many RPG elements... also with actual menu fights if I recall? would make it a real RPG and my first)

Dragon ball (NES) like a mix of zelda and street fighter (bosses were street fighter type fights :p) but with RPG aspects...

In term of RPG, you first is Zelda II (action-rpg), 2nd is Saint Seiya and 3rd is Dragon Warrior

The Legend of Zelda and The Batlle of Olympus were a Action-Adventure games and Shadowgate was an Adventure game.

You guys make me feel so old.
1. Dragon Warrior (NES)
2. Final Fantasy (NES)
3. Dragon Warrior II (NES)

1. Pokemon Red
2. Quest 64 (?)
3. Pokemon Yellow

Unsure about these orders, but Final Fantasy Legend was up there as was Final Fantasy IX and Final Fantasy X.

And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."
