Final Fantasy VII was released on the Playstation Store last week for $9.99. As expected, the popular RPG is currently the most downloaded content on the digital store for both the PSP and the Playstation 3. Resident Evil: Director’s Cut is second on both storefronts as well. 

Hopefully, the success of Final Fantasy VII would result in many more popular PSOne Classics appearing on the Playstation Store in the near future.

Add PC and the game has already passed 10 million one would think, either way this is very old news. It's number one on the Hong Kong, USA and Japan store so surely is making a pretty penny for Sony and SE.

Good news though because it's just easy money meaning we should hopefully see more PS1 games released. Now why Gran Turismo 1 and 2 have not yet released it beyond me considering PD is owned by Sony.

Im tempted to download the game but I already have it as disc version for my ps1. My question is now if the psn versions looks smoother or does it have shorter loadtimes or anything that would justify to buy it again?

I don't care about PS1 games but FFVII is like a PS3 game =)

It should just be an image of the original game being run through PS3's emulation. It should really play no different than the original disc unless Square-Enix decided to spend money and time to make improvements, which would be very improbable.

It's probably not worth it if you already own the game unless you just want to waste $9.99 for no reason. I know I like to waste money sometimes.

Yes the load times are only seconds faster nothing spectacular but noticeable all the same. Visuals are a tiny bit sharper but nothing amazing. But the ability to play on a psp trumps everything.
