I think that most people are being used to PS3 critisizm. Like that game Killzone2, sony just so pushes it as the 'next graphical wonder that only was made available to the universe because of Blue-Ray and Cell'. Yet if you look at Killzone2 and you compare it with the graphics that a 400$ pc graphics card produces you just wonder what is so high-tech about Killzone2.
On the other hand you have games like metroid that look more artistic, compare it to okami(?) on the PS2.

Halo is not looking bad, it's just looking above average and it offers much more then the game needs. And indeed it isn't the miracle looking game that will cause an alien invasion but i don't think it has been announced like that.

Look in this world Sony is the only institution left that wants to sell games by it's graphics. We all know how good that's going...

 Have you even played any of the games they showed when they do their comparisons.  They do it all the time with the 360/PS3, all their games look like shit in the screens.  I have played every PS3 game they have showed in the comparison and the games look alot better then what they show.

The vast majority of the complaints seem to be coming from PS3 and Wii fanboys, so draw from that what you may...

Halo 3 significantly ups every graphicas detail, but does so in the same stylistic framework. So while the game is dramatically improved graphically, to many people it "looks like the last 2" But that's only an insult if they choose it to be. Many people said that Twilight Princess looked the same as Ocarina of Time. And it did, asside from the fantastic graphical improvements. So in conclusion, some people criticize the game because they think it looks too much like it's predecessors, even though that's purely an artistic choice (and frankly, the only choice that makes sense)

The vast majority of defenses to Halo 3 graphics seem to be coming from 360/Halo 3 owners.  Interpret that however you wish.

Halo 1 and 2 were show piece software for the Xbox, people expected the same of Halo 3 but in light of Gears CoD4 Killzone2 Halo3 has failed to achieve that.

Halo 3 looks perfectly fine. What's the problem?

There's just no pleasing some people. This is the problem with catering to the self-proclaimed "hardcore". They expect you to match the game they built up in their imaginations which is an impossible task.

I don't own an XBox 360 and I don't give a damn about all this HD nonsense. Halo 3 is a spectacular game graphically and as far as I'm concerned there is no problem.

Congratulations, your friend managed to take a lousy photo in a really dark part of a multiplayer level.  If every game allowed every single user to take photos at all times from every possible angle, they would have 1000x as many bad photos as Halo 3 does.
