Forums - Gaming Discussion - Prince of Persia Movie - First Footage

So, wandering though the internet. I stumbled upon this.

Now, generally when looking at movie adaptions of video-games. I'm always thinking it will be absolutely terrible, however I'm not exactly a fan of the prince of persia series. So I'm having a difficult time passing judgement on this one. However this movie looks like it can have potential, mostly from the cast and director. What do you guys think?

I really hope this can succeed and maybe open up a franchise for video-game movies that are ya'know. Good? But overall I don't expect much.

Why must JRPG female leads suck so bad?

Looks like it could be good, but I'm not going to hope for anything. Chances are it'll suck hard.

I'm not getting my hopes up, but it's certainly one of the more promising video game adaptions...

cool. I hope it'll be good

Check out my game about moles ^

It looks a lot better than most game based films.

Jake Gyllenhaal wtf? My dog looks more Persian than him. Most of these stories stage themselves in the region between Persia and india. What's a white guy doing there? And who happens to be the heir to the Persian kingdom.

In the wilderness we go alone with our new knowledge and strength.

Well after reading all of these comments, I went in with a somewhat optimistic view, neglecting the white-man ordeal..

What the hell is up with the fighting? Seriously? It's some of the worst I've ever seen. There was a scene where he was in the middle of a crowd fighting two guys with spears, and the guys with spears were moving extremely slowly, didn't look like they were putting any effort or muscle into their swings, and it was about as realistic as my third-grade play.

Then there was that offscene fighting practice and both of them looked like complete dorks who couldn't even properly hold a sword. I was waiting for him to accidentally drop the sword, fall down, and twist his ankle. The guy is fit in a muscular way, sure, but my god he's not agile, dexterous, or limber at all.

Looks alright besides that.

Maybe it has something to do with the sands of time? I'm not sure but I'm going to put my money in that being some kinda plot device that allows for overwhelming use of "bullet-time" in the movie after the edits. I'm sorta going to expect 300 now.

This is very true, From what I take from the prince of persia series. The entire series practically relies on agile fighting. The video doesn't give me any hint of that at all. I didn't think of that at all. Nice eye pointing it out.

After reading those concerns, my opinion has dropped slightly about this movie. I only hope it'll be alright.
