Forums - Sony Discussion - Who here thinks ps3 is Sonys' last videogame console?

I think it is, because Ken Kutaragi is no longer at Sony, he was the one that pushed for PSONE, PS2 and PS3, he is no longer at Sony, and the way Sony Computer Entertainment is talking, is that they will try to get as much money from ps3, and had to convince Sony that the ps3 is worthy investment, that tells me that the big heads at Sony doesn't see the Playstation business as important, that if anything is an indication to me that the ps3 will most likely be Sonys' last console.

Are you serious. Playstation, nomatter what you want to believe is an amazingly strong brand name. What other console brand do you know could that could easily sell 21M units without ever getting lower than $399 and launching at $600. Exactly.

The Playstation brand has sold like 300M consoles worlwide, everyone knows what a Playstation is and Sony aren't going to destroy that.

I dont even know why I wrote that, you'l probably just ignore my post and dwell on the posts that agree with you.

You made a thread where Xbox will pretty much monopolize all hardcore games due to Sony going out, and now this?...

I'm sure that if Sony has the money and time to make another console, along with faith that the brand is still strong enough, that they will make another console. Nintendo won this generation after "losing" last gen. Xbox beat PS this generation. Why the double standard? Compared to last gen, PS3 isn't losing as badly as the other 2 consoles, and they're selling well in Japan, neck to neck in Europe.

We have no idea what will happen next gen, so there should be no reason to doubt that the PS brand won't "win" next gen. As for whether or not Sony's execs have confidence in the PS brand anymore, why are they continually making new IPs, adding so many features, and being so competitive? That doesn't seem like an attempt to milk a console for some cheap $.

Yet another glorious thread from Jeronimo66. He amazes me with his astoundingly clever posts.

This isn't Sega, Sonic. There more than likely will be a PS4 especially if they plan on using the cell for it and blu ray. Most of the cost will be cheap by then, which means a lower priced PS4, which means that this whole price issue will be a non factor.

I think it might be only nintendo next gen or a hybrid with ms and nintendo

The economy is way too messed, and sony's OTHER businesses are failing, unfortunately they may drag down the games division.

MS will be ok, and Nintendo is selling

Sony tho is very uncertain

Last year's game of the year turned out to be Silent Hill : Shattered Memories (online GOTY was COD 6).  This year's GOTY leader to me is Heavy Rain.

Wii Friend Code: 4094-4604-1880-6889

You need to get your head out of the "How to troll PS" bag.

Please provide the link where I made that thread.

Yes, you got that right. Its Jeronimo who predicts that by the end of 2011 The 360 will have a 20M lead over the PS3 despite already having numerous price cuts.

That should explain everything

I could maybe see it happening. Sony, as arrogant as they are can't stand the thought of not being first place and decides to call it quits. But I would always assume to see Sony developed games like Sega does.
