Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Star Fox Creator: No Wii Star Fox, Wii is a Toy.

wow. Can we ban Cuthbert for flaming?

Seriously, unbelievable. I wouldn't mind a linear star fox of predominantly space missions though...

That is a lot to swallow.

I never figured there would be so much hate and angst.

So, Star Fox 64, the best Star Fox game in the series (in my humble opinion), is the one that had zero involvement from any 2nd/3rd party dev -- no Namco, Rare, Argonaut, or Q-Games on board.  This guy's claim to the Star Fox legacy is really just based on programming / 3D game engine work for the SNES, and more recently, the DS game.

QFT.

Starfox 64 >>>>>>>>>> Every other Starfox game ever.

This was (and is) already under discussion in another thread.

When will we have a board where participants actually search before posting something? You're probably not the first one to bring up whatever news item you think you alone have stumbled upon. I'm sorry to be an ass about it, but it's really not that much trouble to check the current threads first, and nothing is more obnoxious than this rampant thread-duplication.

I agree. Some larger news items get 4-5 duplicate threads. Sometimes they are locked, but mostly we are left with the general guideline of the most sensational title/OP wins. We have many thread starters who just don't search before making a thread. It's tedious to sift through multiple threads about the same thing especially when people give their threads misleading titles to get more views.

Command seemed to me like it was a game that had to be cut short and released (for whatever reasons, most likely fiscal). I thought it was pretty good, but it's obvious that the multi-player was intended to be something a bit more ambitious, as why else would they have so many characters, each with their own ship, stats, theme tune, interface theme and some with unique abilities, if most of them are only going to have tiny bit-parts in the actual game?

A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

ugh Nintendo cut this guy loose and get cracking on Star Fox Wii... or Command 2

I think its fairly obvious that this guy doesn't have the credibility to be talking like he does. He didn't "create" starfox at all.

From wikipedia:

It was founded by Dylan Cuthbert [1], who previously worked at Argonaut Software and helped create Starglider and Starglider 2 for Argonaut Software, then X and the first Star Fox for Nintendo. He also developed Star Fox 2 to completion before heading off to work at Sony America to make Blasto on the PlayStation. After this Dylan moved back to Japan to work at Sony Japan, where, in early 1999, he developed the Duck in a Bath technical demo (Ducks demo) that showcased the PS2's power to early developers and publishers [2]. Following that, he developed Piposaru 2001 (Ape Escape 2001) and then left Sony to start Q-Games Ltd. in Kyoto in September 2001.

Notice the part where he basically worked at Sony for several years?  The wii is a toy?  Where've I heard that one before...
