Maybe you should make yourself more clear, you clearly said the gen is over for Sony, If nintendo won, why isn't it over for microsoft too?

That's why I wrote what i wrote, people quickly jump to the conclusion that Sony is done for, which isn't true.

 Jumping to conclusions seems to be popular around here, actually.  Unfortunately, giving a full detailed report on the market situation would take a lot of pages of text and would get a lot of "tl;dr" responses (posted and otherwise).  It's easier to summarize, which of course leads to misunderstandings.  It's one of the oldest paradoxes of communication, really...

Games are the ones that matters most, i like good games even if it sells like garbage ( like Shenmue ) , Games/Consoles dont need more sales to be fun or good , you buy the one that makes your time fun.
why do alot of people care about sales in this site? ..... oh wait ....nevermind xD

but seriously Dreamcast was a great console, did that sell well? nope , Xbox original was a great console, it didnt sell well. who cares really, they'll just going to make new ones and make more fun games for us to play =]

People often make these statements, I wonder about it. Do people think the DS would be at 37mil in Japan if the PSP never came out? Perhaps it would have sold lots more, it's hard to tell. However, the DS is soon going to be the best selling system ever, completely demolishing their previous handheld (GBA), and outpacing even the PS2 by quite a bit. It's hard to imagine the thing selling that much more - I think claims of the PSP hurting the DS only compliments Nintendo even further...


OT: Sony is in no position to gun for first place - nobody is catching Nintendo, it's pointless to try. To "win" they need to focus on making as much money as they can this gen, so they can release another console. Massive pricecuts would be working against this.

Is this post for real? It sounds like fantasy land. As SkyRender said, there has never been a situation where the marketleaders swapped positions like a nascar race, even the race for second is becoming clear.

But..there is one thing Sony can do, it may not catch the Wii completely, but if Sony gives a free PS3 with the purchase of a Wii it may increase its installed base faster.

If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.
