Oh damn, Sakurai is back and with more freedom than ever.

Maybe Kirby Wii? Or a new IP that will make the most core fan shit themselves? No idea but I hope it's good [still hoping for that Earthbound Wii :'( ]

Well when Iwata and Sakurai say that this is a totally new idea and its also a core title that sounds like another game on the level of SSB.

In any case this is some of the best news a Nintendo fan could get. I thought Sakurai was planning on leaving Nintendo did not make the idiotic mistake of losing him and his team. Rareware anyone?

Lets see..

1. It's from the creator of Super Smash and Kirby
2. It's a core game
3. Iwata asked for it
4. It's nothing like we've ever played before

Whatever it is.. It better be epic or there'll be a lot of disappointed people because that's some pretty big hype if you ask me.

Edit: Yeah he left Nintendo to form his own company which was titled 'Sora'. Then he was asked to come back to direct SSB: Brawl and I guess Nintendo offered him a deal where he now has greater power and greater funding so he decided to return and bring his development team to become a first party Nintendo team. Pretty exciting!

Well he left to have more freedom to go outside of the box, he went out, Iwata needed him badly for Brawl and threw tons of money his way as well as giving him a bit more freedom to do as he pleases, and the game turned out amazing.  Now we have world wide economic problems but Iwata needs more core stuff so it works out well for Sakurai, he gets the freedom he's always wanted, Nintendo needs core games and have tons of cash to throw around, and he still gets to work with his friend Iwata it's like a win for everyone.

Is it a fishing game?

So Nintendo is putting together a new dev team with a mandate to make "core" games. Interesting. Perhaps my western buy out prediction won't come to fruition after all.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

After what Sakurai did with Brawl, I am sorely disappointed that Nintendo would be willing to work with him again. He didn't have the guts to make a game with proper Wii controls, and so he has no business developing for the Wii.

Complexity is not depth. Machismo is not maturity. Obsession is not dedication. Tedium is not challenge. Support gaming: support the Wii.

What do I hate about modern gaming? I hate tedium replacing challenge, complexity replacing depth, and domination replacing entertainment. I hate the outsourcing of mechanics to physics textbooks, art direction to photocopiers, and story to cheap Hollywood screenwriters. I hate the confusion of obsession with dedication, style with substance, new with gimmicky, old with obsolete, new with evolutionary, and old with time-tested.
There is much to hate about modern gaming. That is why I support the Wii.

He would have had a budget and time limit to complete it. An engine, single player mode, character modeling, animating, balancing, items, wi-fi, level creator, all the extras like CG cutscenes, music, controller options etc.

He also said Brawl was one for the fans. It did its job very well, was wonderfully polished and quite simply would have been less of a game with the added dev pressure of re working the game around motion controls. Maybe the next game with WM+ added can be a series refresh.. It probably needs it..

I don't think Brawl with motion controls would've been a very bright idea... Good thing you're not in the game development business.
