Forums - Gaming Discussion - Which one should I buy ? PS3 or Xbox 360 ?

id say PS3 bcoz if u look at 2009, there are very few 360 exclusives whereas there are huge exclusives i.e KZ2, iNFAMOUS, DC UNIVERSE ONLINE, LA Noire, Heavy rain, GT:5 etc.

Of course you have to consider that because the 360 has sold more units, more than likely you'll get more responses to buy a 360.

LOL - It would also mean those same people are satisfied with their purchase despite the RRoD issue !!

1) implies XBOX360 + RRoD still > PS3

2) if RRoD is really gone as said then XBOX 360 >> PS3

I would say the PS3. Hardwarewise it's the more reliable (agreed). Softwarewise it's really boils down to the exclusives (and the inferior version syndrome....). Aside from 3rd parties, something about SONY's 1st and 2nd party efforts seem to be more creative (my subjectivity clearly indicates otherwise, and i checked twice . They are willing to try something new/different that really doesn't seem to primarily focus on the casual gamer (???). They have hidden games like Folklore & Siren (???). Their online efforts are great with the help of online only titles such as Warhawk and SOCOM (your multi-player online games, not counting those single player games that also have offlline and online multiplayer options. (LIVE does that much better) And they also seem to be pushing genres with games such as Resistance 1 & 2, Little Big Planet, Ratchet & Clank Future, & Uncharted (LOL ?). The neat thing about being online with the PS3 is that it's free (100% agreed). If you need to buy a wireless headset, just pick out whatever Bluetooth headset you want because it also works with your cellphone (same thing here). And upgrading is very user-friendly and relatively inexpensive. Because unlike SONY's past history, the PS3 is not very proprietary (true, but most people just want a console to play).  Also, the ability to rent/buy downloadable moves and the watching Blu-ray are bonuses (blu-ray is the only bonus there).

You will get quality hardware, quality software, solid online features, flexability, and perks that will make you feel very secure with your purchase (i also think the PS3 is a very good console, choosing it isn t a mistake)

A few things that also have to be taken into account.

The overall tendency of these past two years (and not only the recent months) is in favour of the 360. Sony has been losing exclusivities consistently, and is cutting on the investment budget ever since last year s fiscal result. MS is not only sharing those third party exclusivities but gaining new ones, and wants much more.

In the end, it comes down to this :

There is this Playstation feeling that is so lovable and that you won t get elsewhere - GT5, God of War, MGS, etc.

But if you are ready to give that feeling up and gain a new one, then go 360. Not only you will have the best of multi-plat games but you will gain access to heavy new franchises in every gaming genre.

Also, playing online is more than highly recommended. I can understand how some people won t pay 50 bucks a year for it but LIVE is exactly what makes want a 360 more than a PS3. I love that Playstation feeling, and i'll miss it, but I prefer the LIVE one.

On Live you get - people who do talk (PSN is so much more silent :-/ ) The most unforgettable experiences I had playing on the 360 (at my friends house - who owns both PS3 and 360) were due to LIVE features and its community. If the 360 sells so well in the english speaking world it's obviously 'cause LIVE makes all the difference.

Anyway, as said before. Both consoles are good enough. Be impulsive or think it through, you won't get disappointed by either choice.

It makes no sense to buy a system now for games that may or may not come out, especially with the global economy. It's best to look at the current lineup and see if you are interested in that one.

I know of a few gamers who bought a PS3 for FF and was pissed with news of it going multiplat.

Never, ever buy a system for games that are future releases.

  So true !

PS. Except at the launch of a system, of course, but even then remember they are willing to lie in order to get your money. In fact the WILL lie.

I'm pretty sure "etc." is a multiplatform game.  I see it on a lot of fanboy's 2009 release list regardless of system.

Ghost, we can agree to disagree put please don't use tactics sucah as painting a false pictures like in the highlighted picture.  I say this because the PS3 loosing several exclusives doesn't mean its not getting the game because third party PS3 support is still strong.  The same can be said about the 360 loosing 3rd party exclusives to the PS3.  The reality here is that excusive or not, both  consoles have a hefty amount of 3rd party support, multi-platform and exclusives.  Also, we don't know of any future changing plans in SONY's gaming division.  Your subjectivity is not more valid than anyone else.  Thank you.

So right. I bought two systems at launch - the PS1 and the PSP. That's it. Otherwise, I will wait until March, April after launch - usually 4, 5 months because folks will report issues during that period. Plus, the second wave of games will hit by then. Unless you are so convinced you'll absolutely love the game coming on the system no matter what, I'd advise waiting and seeing if the system is up to par with your wants.

do i need to remind you that there are multi plat games who looks better on PS3 and that 360 lost exclusives as well?

PS3..

BoXer-zAiN

I'm owner of ps3 and ex owner of a XO. If I'd be you I'd buy a ps3. It's more reliable, blu-ray, 2009 games are better (my opinion). Still much to prove. XO is allready in it's maximum state. Quality of games is starting to be better (exlusives). Also multilplatforms are going to be better and better.

Probably the tastiest part of the Killzone Cocktail is the Multiplayer. Imagine if Call Of Duty 4 and Team Fortress 2 had a baby, which they then abandoned and as a result had to learn a few new tricks to survive. That’s what Killzone Multiplayer is like.
