Forums - General Discussion - I wonder if it would be possible to make Microsoft bankrupt

I remember reading somewhere that if Bill Gates sold his investments to donate to charity then they will stuffer a severe nose-dive.

MyPoint: He can not donate all his money at once or he will lose a lot.

Captain Obvious has spoken.

The US is by far the best country in the world, they give more money and food to poor countries then any other nation. All the rest of the world bitches when the US leaves countries to kill themselfs and they bitch when they do something, i just wish all you people would stop bashing the best country in the world.

I dunno about anyone else, but this guy's attitude is why I tend to show some bitterness to the "best country in the world."

I'm not from the US for one thing, so you can hate Canada now.

Did you know that someone like Bill Gates can single handedly completely obliterate the debt of almost all poor countries? Why doesn't he do it? Because he doesn't want to. Not that I'm claiming I would if I was in his position, just saying someone that rich can change the world in a second but doesn't.

First of all, the African debt was like $295 billion, which is way more than Bill Gates ever had. Secondly, the G8 countries are slowly cancelling African debts anyway. (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/4081220.stm)

And he HAS been changing the world... http://www.gatesfoundation.org/GlobalHealth/ you can read about all the stuff the foundation does.

Cancelling the debt for some of Africa's poorest countries would do wonders (Uganda for instance would really benefit from it since they're extremely serious about fixing their economy and are doing a lot of good things), but others like Zimbabwe it would only allow a corrupt regime to remain in power and although it might help the people there in the short term it would only be a band-aid solution and they would borrow and be in the same mess again very quickly.

Wow talk about a long sentence, but I'm too tired to fix it tonight ;)

Good point. Mugabe, who ruled Zimbabwe for a good while before his people hung him from a tree (!!) had a fortune of over 9 billion dollars when he died... Guess where the money came from? Yup, the western worlds "aid" to Africa.

The US has better heath care then Canada and same with the education system.
