Forums - Sony Discussion - Kaz says Little Big Planet sold 1.3 million-- oh noes! Did I win my bet?

wow at the damage control Playstation fans are doing in this thread.

Little Big Planet is a great game but considering Sony is trying to market LBP as one of its best original exsclusives why would it

A) leave out bundles considering that would be higher sales?

B) say that the game has sold 1.3 million but REALLY mean that 1.3 million have played it online?

maybe its just me but it seems like these people are grasping at straws

I guess the game was substantially over tracked then?

Given Kaz would be talking shipped sales (and he CLEARLY said sales) and VGC tracks sold to consumers, it appears we are over tracking by upwards of 700k depending on stock on shelves.

The game still did well for what it was, but it's nowhere near the PS3 savior it was hyped up to be. Especially now.

No he clearly said 'played', but I'm not going to continue this argument to death.  I knew you'd come in here stirring the pot.

IGN agrees with me, 'played' is what he said, and whether or not that's what he meant, who knows, but he said played, and the only person who knows what he meant was kaz Hirai.

My last statement in this thread:

At the end of the day, no one in this thread was at CES. IGN was, and have him as saying 'played'. So I'm going to take the work of a well-respected gaming site, over that of some people on this forum.

There is a LittleBigAgenda on this site in order to curb success of this game, which I talked about in my "People will never see LBP as a success" thread. Simply put, people will throw VGC itself under the bus in order to make sure that this game is never a success. People seem to care about this site about as much as they do a jizz-rag. When it's useful, it's all cool, but once it's not useful anymore, the site is wrong and is always over/under tracking something.   VGC has it at 1.82 million, and that's what it sold until otherwise stated.  >_>

I enjoy the amount of hypocrisy on this site, reminds me of how silly people are arguing over sales.

Hmm...

There is no pot to stir I'm sorry.  It seems IGN are completely out of whack with the rest of the gaming media.  There is also no reasonable reason why Kaz would pick a lower number than was necessary to promote.

The sales weren't as good as you thought.  Simple as that.

LBP sold 305K in UK alone....320K in NA (Nov + Oct).....& 80K in Japan (by begining of dec) -- these numbers are from GFK, NPD & famitsu respectively

so acc. to those numbers LBP sales = 700k +

WITHOUt including....Mainland EU sales, WITHOUT including NA December sales & without including Japan December sales

Do the math....it seems unlikely LBP is at ONLY 1.3 milllion right now

^doesnt this reveal the truth? i think that he said playing because he was talking about the PSN at the moment right?

Because he was talking about online play throughout hs speech.

According to GFK, NPD, and famitsu before december the game was at 900k at min. With over 700k ps3 sales that could possibly bundles which is not including SW only.

are you kidding me? Listen I love LBP too and want to see it succeed but that comment was honestly hilarious

an anti LBP agenda? All i see Dmeister are people like you and Leo-J running around when the numbers coming in saying things like "look at LBP go!"  and "LBP has some serious legs!"

where are all the comments saying look at Fable 2's legs? Look at Gears 2 legs?  Listen i'm not trying to get on your case but there are dozens of threads a day on LBP and why theres this great big agenda to put it down when all i see are Sony Fans talking it to death

Actually these numbers are a little off. 215 for october and 141 for November for a grand total of 356 for USA alone(NPD). Add 10-14% for Canada and Mexico (usually 14% for the wii and 10% for xbox) and you get around 400k for NA alone... before dcember at minimum. Plus the 100-200k UK sales LBP recieved in november in UK alone(GFK) which is usually 25% of others for ps3 titles since ps3 performs better in spain and such compared to the 360 which performs better in UK and you get 400k for others. Which puts the game at 800k. add the 80k famitsu numbers you get 880k. This is also assuming that LBP just scrapped by the 100k mark in the first 3 weeks. So again this is the minimum number it was at in the end of November.
