why everyone has happily missed this? to me it sounds like "HD consoles (X360 AND PS3) are being pushed to their limits with our game due to their memory limitation...and we've experienced more problems with the PS3 due to its memory architecture"

oh, BTW after seeing the previews i believe developer's statment: the game looks really impressive.

2008 year end sales (made in January 2008):

Well, the game looks... mmmm, lets say, not very good, so, i dont know how can this be pushing the 360 to its limits.

Developers ??? or the guy in the interview???

And, didn kojima (KOJIMA) said than he pushed the ps3 at 100%?? but, is mgs4 the best looking ps3 game?? i dout it.

I have 1 question, i dont know much about specs, but, if the 360 has 512 and the ps3 has 256, isnt worst for the ps3??? i would like to know that.

Check a couple of pages back we were discussing the differences in the ram.

As for pushing the system 100%, that is very subjective. Most games probably use 100% of the available power as it cuts down on development costs, whether or not they were able to maximise the efficiency of their code in MG4, to the point where it could never be improved upon i think is questionable.

Different games use the system in entirely different ways so there is no generic coding system that could equate to the 'perfect setup'.

People always find new and better ways of doing things and saying that they are using 100% is probably as much a marketing ploy as it is anything else.

We arent fanboys having a dig, we were having a decent discussion about system optimisation until you jumped in shouting the odds, dont try to turn it into a PS3 vs 360 rant just to suit your own motives.

Your joking right? I provide massive evidence that this thread is made purely to try and put the 360 down again. When the internet is riddled with articles of how the PS3 version is MAXED out and how PS3 version was a nightmare just to make it run similar to the 360 version.

Fanboyism obviously knows no bounds.

Well the OT was discussing maxing out the 360, which has nothing to do with whether or not the PS3 is being maxed out as well, and the only mention of the PS3 was that if the PS3 wasnt suffering the same issues then it might be due to the game being less GPU intensive.

Well done for finding out that the PS3 version is having issues as well, but dont blow it out of proportion. Maxing out any of these system is the easiest thing in the world, about 2 lines of code could do it, and we were discussing that very topic of maxing out vs optimising the code to its full potential.

So can we get back to our discussion on developers optimising the system if that is alright with you?

MGS 4 apparently maxed out the power of PS3 in only 18 months. I will be surprised if any game on PS3 will surpass MGS 4 in graphics.

Killzone 2, Uncharted 2, God of War III, Heavy Rain, MGS5, Uncharted 3, Killzone 3, etc...

(Former) Lead Moderator and (Eternal) VGC Detective

Why does everyone go on about how the graphics are, it is the number of things on screen and everything going on that can max out the game

Anyway, whoever talks about MGS 4 maxing out the PS3, it has already been beaten by Uncharted, and will be beaten by Killzone 2. ND say that they are going to max out the PS3 for Uncharted 2, so it should really be the PS3 that we are worrying about being maxed out early...

It's not aimed at you neccessarily, but you obviously have not been around long enough to know that the person who posted the thread is anti 360. Also many people in discussion and who are bound to make odd comments are also anti 360. And this thread will just fuel the fire. That is exactly why when I stumbled across the fact that PS3 is struggling even more with this game I had to enlighten people.
