Forums - Sony Discussion - Yahoo already writing PSP off

they are wrong the psp its not dead its sell very great not great than the ds but very good

It's quite amazing how Nintendo has set such a new standard as far as sales for hardware and software go. Now you have to 5+ million for games to be a success and any hardware that isn't breaking records is a flop. Looks like all systems are "failing" except the Wii and DS.

I use google...

Not that it would ever happen but wouldn't it be hilarious and ironic if Yahoo was bought out by Sony lol

As far as the article goes I do think that to an extent it is only natural for some segments of US media to favor an American company. I know I would love Microsoft if I was American. Having said that I don't want to generalize and the majority of people probably don't think that way but I'm confident a lot do.

Regardless the gaming industry like any other industry is ever changing and evolving and nothing is permanent. Not many people would have believed that Sony could dethrone Nintendo with the PS1 or that Sony would go from first to last with the PS3 but both things happened.

Sorry for going off topic and as far as the PSP goes while it is definitely not doing as well as it could/should it is nevertheless far from dead, especially in Japan.

Sounds to me like someone is regretting his PSP purchase (and is a bit jealous of Nintendo's success). XD

what do you mean by "already writing the psp off"?
its been out for like 4 years or something and it basically flopped compared to its competition.

hello how are you.

I'm glad I sold my PSP and bought a DS.

The article may have made the right conclusion, but got there via the wrong route. The hardware installbase is very much viable, but it's the software sales that are killing the device.

PSP was welcomed to market with a high praise, and now that people expect it's exit, it's going to be bashed just as much as it was praised years earlier.

Anyway, the article itself somehow tries to keep talking about tech, despite it stating itself, that the software is the problem. I've never understood the mentality (present in the article), that just because a truck has 500kW engine, it somehow is better tech than a Smart with 30kW engine.

Ei Kiinasti.

Eikä Japanisti.

Vaan pannaan jalalla koreasti.

Nintendo games sell only on Nintendo system.

They write them off for a silly reason. The iPhone? Gimme a break. I bet that it will be hugely successful as a gaming device. But the whole touch-screen, movement sensor system has its limits. Gaming is one area where you need exact controls so you either need a stylus or buttons.
So the iPhone will be successful no doubt about it, but more akin to flash games are a success compared to PC gaming. A completely different area.

The media hates sony beyond the fanboys themselves.

The media does most of the anti-Sony campaigns. MS and Nintendo fanboys do not need to do anything.
