Forums - Nintendo Discussion - X play Reggie interview. Some good core games will announced at E3...

I say it's awesome to get excited for a convention that's five months away to hear an announcement for a game that is another six months to a year or more from coming out. I'm pumped already thinking about games I might be playing a year from now.

I'll come up with something better eventually...

I won't get my hopes up, E3 is for the "Casual" market when it comes to the Wii.

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

After the E3 08 backlash I doubt Nintendo will make the same mistake again, they'll probably still front the casual angle, but they won't neglect the core angle this time.

Eh. We vastly overestimate our power and influence, especially over Nintendo. That said, if I was them I'd toss us a bone, just to tide us over.

I just hope its stuff we don't know about, rather than showing more of Punch Out or S&P 2, I don't care for either of those games to be honest.

Wait have I understand right ?
Reggie said in that interview that Nintendo account for 83% of revenue of the $22 billion industry ( NA revenue industry forecast for the year I suppose ).

That's what he said alright.

Day-um!

I watched the interview and he didn't state anything about core games other then "The Conduit" and "Madworld" so please stop over blowing a short uninteresting interviewing into being something it's not.

Prepare for termination! It is the only logical thing to do, for I am only loyal to Megatron.

Nah, I'm pretty sure it was them counting as 83% of the growth of the revenue. 83% total would be way too much.

They really should just start putting that in the games now.

First off: Nintendo defines 'core' as someone who plays often. Animal Crossing in their mind, rightly so, is core. Even some Wii Sports only players could be core if they play it all the time.

Secondly: He didn't say 'core' games were being announced. He said games 'we'd like to hear' (or some such statement). Coming from Nintendo that could be anything at all because who is 'we' and as far as they are concerned we'll love all their games anyway no matter what it is.

Having said that I think their will be some classic Nintendo IP(s) announced to please the Nintendo loyalists and avoid the massive internet backlash. Probably Pikmin 3 and Red Steel 2.

Thing is, the internet backlash led to Nintendo's best retail year so far, so they are under no obligation to appease the internet. However, they did acknowledge that the old E3 was a "mistake," which means a lot coming from a company that is so traditionally immune to public opinion

Either way, the internet backlash was from people who were displeased with their Wiis at the time anyway. Meaning people who weren't swayed by Brawl or Mario Kart, and who literally wanted to see a new Mario, Zelda, or Metroid, or a new brown-grey-mature IP. These people were the ones who weren't entirely on board with Wii anyway, and who just want Nintendo to be a clone of Microsoft and Sony

So really, they could go either way. This year proved that they don't need blockbuster releases to float the sales, but the coming year does show a lot more promise in the software department
