Forums - Microsoft Discussion - My 360 has again succumbed to the dreaded RROD

My 360 just RROD a couple of days ago, I'm really sad now . It had to happen right when I started playing Fallout 3 too.

That game is really, really taxing on the processor because of all the streaming off the disc. Do you have a hard drive to install the game on? I installed GTA IV last night and played for hours with no probs.

My 360 just died on me for the 2nd time in 2 years, MS wont fix it so that sux for me. I think it's the power supply, but not i'm sure. How much does a power brick goes for?

Sorry to hear that. Did you use a 3rd party cooler? That and opening the unit up will void your warranty. Have you contacted MS yet?

For the brick, check craigslist. I have seen them going for $40-$80.

Nope, no 3rd party hardware was ever hooked up to my 360, and about that warrenty, I said the same thing but the MS reps said the warrenty in up and it would cost me for repairs. I've had the system since launch.

Did it RROD? They will cover anything that's RROD but other out-of-warranty repairs would likely cost.

We sure are hypnotized by Microsoft, it's kind of scary... Any other brand having that kind of flaw in its product gets banned from our house for life, not Microsoft products, we forgive them so many times no matter what happens next...

Windows crashes, ok, restart and continue, BSOD? hope i saved my stuff and i better check how i handle my PC, Registry? just format, IE? i don't mind that browser, Office problems? reinstall, and the list keeps going and going...

Meanwhile, i've seen people that say "My Samsung TV doesn't show picture, i'll never buy a Samsung TV again"... But the 360 gets the RROD, i don't hear them saying "I'll never buy a Microsoft console again"...

I don't know, maybe it's just me...

LOL you are right, you ever forget Vista. Microsoft has been always for me a Marketing companny that sells products, not a companny tht sells good product and have a good marketing team. their products are garbage but sadly the marketing is so weel that people thing that we need them, because if not we can't live or we can't have a computer. But well is the same media that critizise him and them manage to buy his product.

I'll install it on my hard drive when I get my 360 back.

Man that does suck... the warranty expired the middle of Nov for launch systems... i guess MS has enough consoles to fix without having to worry about yours again.

I'm not mad at all, I work retail here in NY and I'm doing 18 hours a day here until 2009, so I dont have the time anyway. When things slowdown for me I'll dish up the money for a new power brick, until then ten minutes here ten minutes there with LBP and R2 should hold me over.

i praise you all who go through all the rrod and other problems of the 360. i wanted a 360 badly this holiday but its problems as these that i will settle for resistance 2 and not gears 2 this holiday

Having mine RRoDed recently, here's the easiest, quickest way to get your console back:

1. Log in to www.xbox.com with your XBL Gamertag
2. Go to 'support' and 'repair console'
3. Select that the issue was RRoD
4. Print out pre-paid UPS shipping label
5. Ship
6. Get console back in a week or so.

I did the said steps a few days ago for my RRoD. It took me far longer to pack the box & take it to my local UPS Store than it did finding out what to do on xbox.com and printing the label out.

My X360 RRoD'ed on November the 18th. I procrastinated, and shipped the console out on the 22nd. Looking at Microsoft's tracking system, my X360 is en-route to my house, but was fixed last Friday or so...I expect to have my X360 back by Wednesday or Thursday.

My Falcon 360 succumbed to the E74 error on November 13th. I went to support.xbox.com, filed a claim and selected the coffin, which arrived on Nov. 18th. Sent the console off the next day, and it was delivered in Mesquite, TX on the 24th, "fixed" on the 25th and assigned a new console serial # on the 26th. I received an email on the 26th notifying me that I'd be sent a UPS tracking number shortly. Here I am on December 2nd with no tracking number. Getting more pissed off by the day.

Oh, and twice on the 27th and once on the 28th I received an email saying they had received my repair request but not my console and that if I didn't send in my console in 30 days the request would be canceled. WTF?

Wow... are you me too?!?!?!? LOL man, this is ridiculous... I received the same confirmation email on the 27th, but still no tracking # and both yesterday AND today i received those "we haven't received your repair request" emails... what the fuck is going on at Microsoft right now? They must be overrun with 360's that RROD'd!

And the best is there's constantly people on here saying how the RROD problem is blown WAAAYYYY outta proportion... what will it take to convice them otherwise?

Apparently the emails sent by MS saying they didn't receive my console were system errors and we weren't the only ones it's happened to lately.  The good news is that I got a call from UPS last night notifying me of my console's tracking number and that it would be delivered today.  It was shipped Monday afternoon from Mesquite so it was fairly quick.  It'll be nice to finally get to mess with the NXE.

You'll probably get your console today or tomorrow, NightDragon83.
