Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Last Remnant is mediocre, will star ocean follow the same fashion?

ive just read some reviews and its looking like the 360 version of last remnant is broken.

taken from early reviews, some of the problems are as follows

  • heavily diminished by a totally broken technical framework
  • Either way you look at it, the visuals are technically broken, a total embarrassment that intrudes on every single aspect of the gameplay
  • The frame rate is awful, often pausing for a second or two at a time
  • inexplicably long loading times
  • 10 seconds for some textures to load

but game underneath these problems, is supposed to be ok although theres no leveling.

its highly suprising that square out of all will piss out a new well hyped rpg that fails miserably...............imo and u can quote me on this, microsoft moneyhatted the game to be released early to get japanese sales on hardware.

i sure do hope the ps3 version and the pc version are vastly improved.

has anyone got this game and can they give feedback, i saw it in shops for 39.99 as i love rpg, but held off as i didnt know anything about the game.

will star ocean follow in the same footsteps as last remnant? i have read in edge magazine in thier preview, that star ocean looks similar to infinite undiscovery with blocky textures and a very unpolished feel? again imo i belive microsoft moneyhatted star ocean to get it out as quickly as possible to japaneese audience.

its looking like previous rpg that have been released this year and last are better than the new square and tri ace games?

i cant think of any new rpg coming out over the next few months, so i guess were stuck with last remnant and star ocean for now!

i really do hope ff13 turns out good...............

This is what happens when they need o have the best graphics... sadly.

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

No, it won't.

-Crystal tools vs Unreal engine. SE and their teams are more proficent with the first.
-No rush to release.
-From the videos I saw, the game looks terrific. Edge magazine? after R2 and CoD WaW both got a 6, they are not credible.

Me and several other gamers have seen the sceenshots and videos of Star Ocean TLR and the graphics are a huge improvement over IU. IU looked great in screenshots but in motion, several flaws were exposed(framerate issues, bland enviornments, character models looked creepy at times). However, SOTLH looks great even in motion from what I have seen and reviewers not called Edge think the same thing.  Edge are known for having their standards way to high and being too harsh on games.  They gave MGS4 an 8 which is too low for a sincerely AAA game.

I mean if xbox360 has this kinda problems, imagine ps3 version. No wonder it was delayed.

i agree with users above, edge are fanboy reviewers, giving R2 a 6/10 is highly unreasonable, just read the review they dont even tell u any features about the game. in fact the review was on a quater of a page.

but im dissapointed with LR though, the 360 is supposed to be made for unreal engine and look how LR has turned out.

lost oddesey had its fair share of probs, but it towers above LR technically

Now its scaring me, I hope FF XIII doesnt end up being crap

not gonna lie, im still gonna pick the game up, reviewers tend to deduct jrpgs 10 points at least for no reason. i hope the game drops in price like infinite undiscovery

my thoughts precisly, infinie undsicovery came down from 39.99 to 29.99 and is now 24.99 used in a very short period.

il pick this game up if i can find it cheap to try it out.

i have sonata on 360, after finishing that il try undiscovery, by then LR should be cheap.

Until IGN or 1UP says Star Ocean 4 is mediocre(which doesn't seems to be very likely at this point), I am not going to believe a single word Edge says about the game and I suggest gamers do the same.
