Forums - Sony Discussion - Polyphony Digital showcase 2160P, 240fps GT5 prologue

Right... but they used four PlayStation 3s. However, they were, after-all, showcasing the resolution of the projector over everything else. I guess it's kind of neat.

I'm pretty sure it's been proven the human eye sees at approximately 72 frames per second. So what's the point of a screen displaying 240 frames per second except to waive your d!@& around.

Too much PR!

So when there is an fps drop you cant tell!

I guess the whole "True HD" is confirmed false for PS3/360 and many TV's.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

But that's not the technology that's on display.  The impressive feat is that the screen displays 240 fps.

I thought the impressive feat was the 2160P resolution

Simply WOW, but shouldnt polyphony just concentrate on finishing their main project ? GT5 ?

Why bother with such trivialities when they can instead engage in technical masturbation exercises?

So that leaves me with just one question. Will GT5 support these modes? If I can buy 4 PS3's + 4 copies of GT5 + this projector, and that is supported, then you can count me in. Hopefully they will support this for crazzy tech guys like myself. It would be awsome if all 1st party SCE games supported this. I can't even imagaine Uncharted @ 4k resolution.

They were on two different displays.  One was projected at 3840 x 2160 on a 220 inch screen at a normal frame rate and one was displayed on a 19 inch screen at 240 FPS.  They're marketing their display technologies.

The FPS just seems useless, but as I said, still impressive.  It's just nothing to get excited about for any practicle purpose.  Eh, I'm just being a wet blanket ;).
