Forums - Nintendo Discussion - How many of you are loosing interest in the Wii

@OP

Only for now, when Wario Land and Fatal Frame IV come out, my interest will be reactivated.

Around the Network

Nope not at all. Playing Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09 All Play right now and still loving it.

I mean I think keeping interest in a console is the exact same. If you want to keep playing it you have to continue buying new games. So far I own over 30 games for the Wii. Every person I've ever heard say they are losing interest in any console has bought less than 10 games. I mean I'm not suggesting anything here other than a trend. Now I know everyone doesn't have the expenditure to do so but seriously you can really only say you don't like a console if you've given it a chance. Even if you don't think you'll like a game you have to at least buy one and give it a chance. I personally didn't think I'd have liked Lego Star Wars until I picked it up.

But yea I guess some people are losing interest in it but not me. 38 games owned with over 45 played and preparing to buy even more this holiday season. I also have a 360 which I play a lot as well but mainly for online.

I do wonder how many games these people bought and played on their previous Nintendo consoles..... because I have bought more games for the same timeframe with the Wii than I did with my GameCube. (not sure about N64) and including Wiiware almost as many as I ever bought for GC.

And if you include VC games I am already at the number of games I owned on N64.

One does not insert the most popular anti-Wii sentiments into a post by accident. Nor does one try to distract readers from it with an excuse if it wasn't done on purpose. Paranoia is seeing what isn't there. Being observant is seeing what is there even when somebody tries to hide it.

youre out of your fucking mind......oh well, take care and keep up the good work private eye.

His post has every watermark of the viral marketing used against the Wii. Let me point them out for you.

"I couldn't wait for boxing, golf, RPGs... games I wouldn't normally be interested in, however, all great things come to an end and I'm finding myself playing the Wii less and less."

Harping on a perceived lack of variety in genres, a favorite target.

"Granted, games like Mario Galaxy, Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles and Metal of Honor: Heroes 2 are awesome but I think the quality of other titles has plummeted overall."

Implying Wii games will only get worse. Not even subtle.

"This is not the case with Nintendo made games as they are clearly getting better but third party games are generally getting worse in graphics and in controls..."

Do I really need to point out that this is one of those "Only Nintendo profits on Nintendo systems" plugs, AND that it has "third parties don't sell on Wii" mixed in?

"SSX Blur, Godfather, Need for Speed, Elebits and Red Steal blow away most of what's out there right now and those are launch titles."

Again with the "Wii games suck" argument, this time claiming that only launch titles are any good.

"I'm not Wii bashing because I hate it, I just wish companies would put adequate effort into their Wii projects (note the keyword here is adequate)."

This line appears in all of them: the excuse for why they're doing it, to make you ignore what they actually said.

"Is anyone else playing Wii less and less? Is anyone considering selling their system? I'm not at the stage of selling mine but most of my friends already have."

The "everybody's doing it, why don't you?" peer pressure tactic.

"It's really sad because although my friends are more into Playstation they bought a Wii first for the same reasons I did (sports, something different) but even though we have different tastes, we all agree that the reason for loosing interest in the Wii is its lack of quality third party offerings."

A pro-PlayStation name drop in the midst of an otherwise starkly anti-Wii post, offered up as though it's an alternative.

Viral marketing is not about what they say they say, it's about what they actually say. Look closely and you'll spot it for what it is.

Believe what you like. I just call it as I see it. And I've seen plenty of it on these forums. Attacks on systems for no rhyme or reason, pulling every "weak point" card in the book. They happen daily, but that doesn't change what they are.

Sky Render - Sanity is for the weak.

Not at all. I'm still plugging away at Blast Works (Just beat Campaign 3 on Pilot difficulty yesterday. Now on to 4...), and I still bust out HotD 2 & 3 for a round of SUFFERING LIKE G DID once every few days. Plus, I have RE4 Wii Edition, RE:UC, Okami, and SSBB sitting on my shelf untouched, not to mention Fire Emblem for GC, as well as a ton of stuff that I want to buy from the VC. Heck, of all my systems, the only one that gets more attention these days is my DS.

If you're bored, then maybe you just need to look into buying a new game or two to tide you over until the big third-party releases start next month.

"'Casual games' are something the 'Game Industry' invented to explain away the Wii success instead of actually listening or looking at what Nintendo did. There is no 'casual strategy' from Nintendo. 'Accessible strategy', yes, but ‘casual gamers’ is just the 'Game Industry''s polite way of saying what they feel: 'retarded gamers'."

I was never interested in it.

i lost intrest in the second week after i bought one, there is only 5 or 6 games on it, the rest are girl/child/party games which dont appeal to me.

really miss the VGCHARTZ of 2008 - 2013...

Dude, you picked a lousy time to write that post...

But if that's the way you feel, there's always E-Bay, eh? You'll find no end of people who are happy to take it off your hands. Might as well bite the bullet now, though, and sell it while you can still make a profit off of it.
