Forums - Website Topics - I enjoy this site.. Just one question.

In the: Peter Moore is corporate vice president of interactive entertainment at Microsoft. Interview by Mark Androvich.

Peter Moore goes on to state, "From a sales point of view, we did announce today that we had hit 11.6 million sold. A little shy... We had said that we'd hit 12 [million], and that's kind of about 12, but a little shy."

So my question is even if MS counts sales as shiped to retailors surely more than 10.13 million. Are there more than a million 360's sitting on store shelves?

Another popular video game tracking site puts the 360 sales at 11.3 million.

I'm willing to settle for an average of all 3.  (11.01 million)

They probably are sitting there, yes. 360 is doing well overall, but it's trailed off quite a bit. It's certainly not selling out. There will be excess inventory until September/October, and then the holiday season hits.

If you're talking about NexGenWars.com, I think they're aware that their numbers are a bit off.

Anecdotal evidence suggests a lot of 360s on shelves, anyway.

It's not all bad for the 360...but it's not selling out or anything.

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

Yep, they should lower the price by 100$ or 100 € before X-mas to get those consoles to sell (dunno about boying it though, because of RRoD's)

Nothing's cheaper than something free.

F1 vs FOTA, when too much power is in couple peoples hands.

one can build another chinese wall with all the 360's sitting on shelves, in theory.

This is worldwide, not just in one spot, so it's easily understood how it is possible. And remember, VGC's numbers are estimates, which means they could be too low or too high.

On Friday, for the first time ever, I finally saw a 360 Elite on the shelf. They apparently had a new shipment, and it spiked on Amazon to first place for a brief stint. I think the Wii also had a shipment cause it is now at the top of the best sellers for video games, Elite #2.

I wonder if this new shipment has the hardware revision. I heard on another forum that a kid picked up an Elite and it had the extra heatsink in there already, brand new unit.

Isn't there something like 3-4 million PS3's sitting on store shelves? One million 360's is hardly unbelievable.

Here's a video from my band's last show Check out more (bigger) videos here http://www.youtube.com/user/icemanout

There are around 1m+ 360s sitting on store shelves worldwide. That's not actually alot, considering the massive volume needed for the supply/resupply chain.

Look at Peter Moore's other newest interviews, he comments on 10m+ sold to consumers, but not the 11m mark.

Depending on the briskness of sales, atleast a 1m buffer is needed for any major non-holiday spike (new game, buzz, ect), as it can take weeks or months to ratchet up new production from the factories in China with Winstron and Flextronics (ect), due to HR, chip producing/aquisition, ect.

IMO, I'd assume there are around 1.2m 360s around there (I think the 360 has sold through a tad better in Europe that figures have, but not by much), 2.25m PS3s, and probably ~500k Wii's available worldwide throughout the supply chain (I don't mean there are 500k Wii's on retailer shelves sitting, but 500k in the chain between retail shelves, distributor hubs, cargo ships, airplanes, ect.

Shipping numbers are the most accurate, as that shows what the maximum number of units available to the consumers are, as well as what the system will end up with sales-wise, even in the most dire straits (like software).

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
