I have a DS Phat & i really like the D pad. The D pad on gamecube however is terrible. I'm thinking of getting a DS lite and i heard the D pad is smaller than the Phat. What do u guys think, is it a hinderance? Is it at least better than the gamecubes?

The DS Lite has a better D-Pad than the GC. It's bigger.

The solid Black and White DS's are fine. But from what I understand and how it felt to me, the cobalt and black and also the crimson black have a funny feeling d-pad that doesn't seem to work well for everyone.

The thing with the Gamecube's D-pad is that it doesn't rest your thumb flush against the surface, and has an indent. I got used to that, and learned not to press too hard, but it's fine with other Nintendo D-pads that don't have an indent.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

DS phat D-Pad works fine... but it isn't comfortable.
GCN D-pad feels stiffer.
