I've been wanting to work at a games store for some time but never got around to doing anything about it.

Finally, now there happens to be a job opening available at an EB store less then 1 minute from my home and I am applying.

I would really, REALLY love to work there and Just 1 munite travel time (Yeay!!!) -instead of my current 1 hour 15 minutes!

im a proud ex-employee of eb. was a fun time, i miss working there...but sadly highly low paying...minium wage sucks compared to my $11 hour now :]

p.s. when i had my interview there like 2 years ago they had me try and sell a random object to the manager just to see how could of a salesman i was, because its kudos if you sell game informer subscripitions for them :p

Yea it's either that or some of them are extremely bais towards a system and either criticize you for liking what you like, or try to tell you to sell your system and buy the rival one cuz your system of choice sucks.  I got onto an arguement with one EB employee one time simply because I was asking for a used copy of FFVIII and they ask me why I wanted to buy that and recommended against it.  Of course this was almost a decade ago.

You will be paid a terrible wage there. A couple years ago I worked for Gamestop. Management isn't even guaranteed a decent wage. You will start out doing crap work. I left before they tried to move me up into position. I thought it would be cool to work in a game store as well. Good luck to you.

Little pay for  lots of hard work, blood, sweat and tears. Be prepared to sweep floors, stack shelves, count stock monthly and put price stickers on games, lots of carrying and unpacking of inventory.

EB employee is just another store job. But at the end of the day a job is a job and there are bills to be paid.

I applied, got an interview, and decided to decline.

You get paid minimum wage and there isn't any benefits that don't deal with games. (Im assuming part time)

They also have terrible hours. Part time people aren't guaranteed 20 hours!

Outside of that, it's great. 15% off everything that isn't a new console. The very nice "4-day checkout" program.
