My old friend Kirk died last year in a car crash, he had a facebook which is kinda the same thing. anyway, someone still logs in as him and sends messages and what not, it's well wierd.
The family can send an e-mail to Myspace or any other "friends-network" requesting to take the page down.. It was a big deal in the Netherlands because one of the soldiers in Afganistan died and the family asked Hyves (very popular in the Netherlands) to take the page down.. When it was taken down all his friends protested and wanted it to stay up to pay tribute to him.. So the family asked Hyves again to put the page up..

That guy went to my high school. And my ex gf's sister works for the Animal Hospital just down the road from said school and she was one of the people that took the cat and laid it to rest.
Neat side note: He was also in said ex gf's 3rd hour class when she was in 10th grade (2 years ago).
