I think it should, and it should demolish it, because Sony became very arogant after the two other consoles failed against the PS2. I hope, if the Wii beats the PS2 sales, that Nintendo won't do like Sony, and actually use their success for the better, after all, they always have. Sony already learned their lesson, don't be confident.

Every gen is different, and by Nintendo beating the PS2, it will prove to developers and "consumers" that originality is the way to go.

Yeah, with the current trend of extreme demand for the Wii still going on a year and a half after its launch, I think that the Wii will shoot by the PS2's sales number in less time than the PS2 itself took to get there.

Combine that with the growing 3rd party support and you have the same formula success as the PS2, but with a broader appeal to people who wouldn't have bought a PS2, but want a Wii.

It's quite funny that there are many people who wish the sales of one product won't exceed the other.

Their arguments sound a lot like Frank Grimes' condemnation of Homer Simpson as well!

Honestly I thought we were done with the Wii Bingo BS where people shout it's just a GC with waggle.  If you're really criticizing somebody for not progressing the industry it should be Sony/MS.  They incrementally updated the graphics like videogames have been doing for years now (Nothing wrong with that but it's just more of the same).  Nintendo actually went out on a limb to create a new gaming experience.  There's no way you should mock them for holding gaming back at all.

And if the PS360 motes come out your argument will look even worse as at least the Wii was designed ground up with motion controls in mind whereas the HD consoles are getting tacked on controls in optional peripherals a couple of years after launch.

And just for arguments sake if the Wii doesn't outsell the PS2 how will that "teach Nintendo" at all?  It doesn't need to hit 120 million to be a success.  It's already shattering all of their previous console records.  In just a few months it'll hit the N64!  Regardless of what happens later the Wii has been a tremendous success for Nintendo and there's no need for them to second guess their strategy.

Actually organizing a boycott to not buy a buisness products when you disagree with their buisness practices in one area is actually one of the most mature things someone can do.

The reason Boycotts almost never work is because people are often not mature enough to stick to it the minute the company makes somethign they like even if their overarching philosphy doesn't change. (For example Ubisoft distributing Tenchu.)

I like the wii since it has all the old games on VC that I've always wanted to buy but then again I remenber all my memories of playing my ps2 everyday.All the wresling games I used to play and the guitar hero games and the kingdom hearts games and I want the ps2 to stay as the highest selling console of all time.

more power = graphics + sound quality + AI + biggest worlds + interaction + ....
