Honestly I thought we were done with the Wii Bingo BS where people shout it's just a GC with waggle. If you're really criticizing somebody for not progressing the industry it should be Sony/MS. They incrementally updated the graphics like videogames have been doing for years now (Nothing wrong with that but it's just more of the same). Nintendo actually went out on a limb to create a new gaming experience. There's no way you should mock them for holding gaming back at all.
And if the PS360 motes come out your argument will look even worse as at least the Wii was designed ground up with motion controls in mind whereas the HD consoles are getting tacked on controls in optional peripherals a couple of years after launch.
And just for arguments sake if the Wii doesn't outsell the PS2 how will that "teach Nintendo" at all? It doesn't need to hit 120 million to be a success. It's already shattering all of their previous console records. In just a few months it'll hit the N64! Regardless of what happens later the Wii has been a tremendous success for Nintendo and there's no need for them to second guess their strategy.
