Forums - Microsoft Discussion - CNET - "Why the 360 will Win!!" - Microsoft PR Working Overtime???

http://www.cnet.com/8301-13506_1-9939276-17.html

Breakdown of the article is this #1 Games, #2 Online... well he's right on both front the 360 currently has the strongest library (waits for the usual suspects to chant LPB, GTP, FF, MGS, etc), and better online service (yeah we know.. one day PS3 users will have a "Home")

"Now I know what you're thinking -- "how?" The answer is actually quite simple: the Wii is not nearly as strong as some want to believe and Sony's strong growth is the result of a lower hardware price, which is allowing it to catch up to the pack."

"According to the latest sales figures,  (<--- Link is to VGCHARTZ!!) Sony has sold roughly 13 million Playstation 3 units worldwide, while Nintendo has sold 25 million Wiis and Microsoft has sold 19 million Xbox 360s. And while Sony won't cite those figures, it chooses instead to mention "velocity" -- the rate at which its sales are increasing."

"With that in mind, you're probably wondering why I think the Xbox 360 will take the day when it's all said and done. Suffice it to say that as it stands, Microsoft has the best strategy in place to appeal to the biggest group of gamers and create a greater value proposition for its customers."

Anyone else seen the increase in Pro-360 news?? Did MS change their PR agency?

I think it's funny that he has both facts and an opinion, but doesn't even bother to try to reconcile the two.

Edit: Oh yeah, I remember this guy. I thought he was just a tech snob before. Now I think he's an MS shill.

Well, CNET is owned by MS right? I at least it was, i could be wrong.

Heh, it's time that some MS "fanism" comes out to counter all the Sony fluff that's been spewed here.

The fact is, it's too early to call anything at this stage of the game either way.

huh guess teh wii is toast

I bolded where their reasoning fails. They may appeal to the biggest group of gamers but as we all know Nintendo isn't selling to gamers only like Microsoft which guarantees they'll have a lot more customers.

Signature goes here!

So a journalist that gets paid by MS thinks the 360 can pull through huh? I garuntee you that well over 95% of the worlds population, hell 99% dont even know that website exhists let alone that journalist. He could have said the ps3 will win and i would have said the same thing: No one cares and this will not make a difference. 360 fans have been getting bread crumbs of positive info compared to ps3 fans this year, so threads like this are to be expected.

I sort of understand what he's saying, if you think about it from a 'twisted' view.  Xbox was all set to be the one that casual gamers (as defined by LAST generation) would pick up.  Reasonable launch price, a good variety of sports, shooter, and sandbox games, as well as the Live Arcade.  It also caters to the more hardcore crowd, with high-powered graphics and a great online system.

Fast-forward to today, Nintendo has a CHEAPER console that stole any chance MS had to make substantial inroads with that type of gamer, and Sony simultaneously comes out with an (aguably) more powerful system with decent online capabilities.  So, in a way, MS is stuck being the middle sibling here (even though it's the oldest).  This works to Microsoft's advantage in a way, though, as they are in a position to get the best of both worlds.

Oh, my god kill me now--I just inadvertently quoted Hannah Montannah  :(

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?
