Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Boom Blox can sell?

The PA crew seems pleased with it and that will probably actually get it a fairly good amount of sales.

Dis, are Wii gamers not allowed to hype a game unless we play it or read reviews? I mean, I see twice the hype for PS3 games that who know how many months/years away.

Previews have been very favourable from from both IGN and RMC of GoNintendo, as well as other sources which I can't recall.

Would I rush out and get it day one? I don't think so. There are plenty of other games which I'm certain are good and I don't own yet. I've been burned by picking up games that I was sure would be good before. In your case, you might want to wait for reviews just to be sure the game has the depth and challenge that you're looking for.

"The worst part about these reviews is they are [subjective]--and their scores often depend on how drunk you got the media at a Street Fighter event."  — Mona Hamilton, Capcom Senior VP of Marketing

Did Atari use Steven Spielberg's name on the box for E.T.? Not that he had anything to do with the actual game, but have any Steven Spielberg movies had successful games?

If not Boom Blox might suffer the Steven Spielberg curse!

ET on the 2600 did sell well.

Just not the "certifiably insanely" well that Aari prepared for; and therefore the embarrassing flop.

Didn't they make more copies then the amount of sold Atari's or something stupid like that?

No. There were 20 million Atari 2600's at that point (1983) and they only made 4 million ET carts. However, they did make 12 million Pac Man carts expecting it to boost Atari 2600's 10 million install base (1981). It did sell 7 million but that was no where near enough since they produced 12 million.

Ahh yeah that was the one I was thinking of!  Thanks.

been playing boom blox for the last 1 hour, its very fun puzzle game, the game is easy so far you just have to make the right throws but it can get addicting, the least throws you make to beat the level the better and then there is the defending mode were you have to defend some gems from enemies. from 1 hour of play i would give it 8 out of 10 but that could change with more time in to the game.

Wii/Mario Kart Wii Code:2793-0686-5434

After looking at the box art, i lower my expectations to 500k max. WTH EA?

This game is awesome!

I really have to go to bed but it's so addictive.

The puzzles are really clever and the gameplay is really fresh, especially the throwing part.

I also like the funny animals.

And very nice graphics on my 42" plasma screen.

I think this game is gonna reach 2 million!

Currently Playing:

Wii: Mario Kart Wii, Wii Sports Resort

Xbox360: Fifa 2009, Halflife 2 Episode 2
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Want to play:
Wii: Lego Indiana Jones, SMG2
Xbox360: MW2

It's a Speilberg game, right? So probaly in his newest film, Indiana Jones will find the Crystal Skull unlocks the Tomb of the Wii, which naturally has a copy of Bloom Blox for Indy and Marion to play.

it can sell well if wii fans can open their eyes.

There are still no reviews for this game...are you people saying its good because you played it or because its on the wii.

Reason why I ask is because it looks interesting and I may pick it up if its good...

All the usually harsh previewers have said it's good, 8 plusish.

IGN podcast is one I can remember saying that.

I'm a Wii fan, and I won't buy this game until I can afford it. Too much stuff to buy right now. It's now Wii fans fault that they released the game a week after Kart.

For the record, Wii software...through the roof.
