Wow.

The quarterly sales of Animal Crossing in the earnings report will be a sight to see. Also, the game pretty much perfectly matched the sales of all the earlier games combined (excluding digital, so it has actually far exceeded it). EDIT: Nevermind that last sentence, OP misses Amiibo Festival and more importantly the original on N64/GameCube.

If we just count all previous mainline AC games (excluding Amiibo Festival/Happy Home Designer) I'm 100% sure that NH has outdone them all combined. Digital included, it's outdone everything including those two (and likely even including all the 5000 re-releases the original game had on N64 and GC)

I agree, it likely did, which is insane. It wasn't as if the series wasn't a big seller already. If this game also has legs like the DS and 3DS games, we're in for something very special.

Where are the rest of the numbers?

They only released the numbers for AC, full-week sales are to come later: https://www.famitsu.com/news/202003/25195316.html

Holy shit.
Do we know yet what the Lite to regular Switch ratio is?
Did stock come back strong all of a sudden or are they just gobbling up the last Lites left?

They only said 394k Switches, no word on ratio yet. I'd guess they held a lot of stock in reserve for this.

There's a graph at the bottom of that page in the link. Switch lite seems to make up around 2/3 of the overall switch sales

Just insane! Can't wait for the full global numbers.

Congrats, very impressive indeed, let's see WW total when it gets informed.

With digital included (most recent Switch titles have been about 35% digital - I'd argue AC would be even higher), we are looking at first week sales of over 3m. The biggest launch ever in Japan across all consoles.

The previous record holders were Pokemon Black/White at 2.6m and Final Fantasy VIII at 2.5m.

Animal Crossing is a fucking monster for sales.

Yea looks like it, nicely spotted. That would mean about 130k regular switches and 260k Lites. Suprised they even had that many Lites left and the regular switches definitely came out of nowhere. But I guess it might just have been reserves like Ringo suggested.

Wow ... Woah WWWOOOOWWW !!!!!

I made might need a cardiac massage after seeing this fantastic result 0-0

Btw, as much as Tbone can now feel infinite joy, don't expect digital ratio to be near as high as what you said.
Most popular 1st party releases on Switch have hovered the 5%-15% digital ratio.
Even taking into account the current event. I'd hardly see such a rise. 25% is the max I see it going.

Digital has changed drastically for Nintendo in the last 6-8months

1st to note is the voucher program, it help boost digital sales significantly. That said AC is a game much more oriented for buying it digitally (having it with you at all times) as well as the situation now COVID19 even with 1.9mil people buying the games

lastly the games digital ratio have all been 20%-30% lately with 2 of them starting off with 40%+ digital ratios

Record breaking sales for a series known for its huge legs... Wow! This is going to be massive .I can see this being slightly more frontloaded than previous AC games due to its massive FW sales. If not, then LT sales for this game are going to be absolutely legendary! (25M+ easily). I would love to see some indication on its NA opening.

Shame Quickrick (and/or his alts) isn't here to see this. He claimed AC wasn't a major Nintendo franchise :) :) :)

In my opinion the N64 was not just the best console of the 5th gen but, to this day the best console ever created!

The voucher program was a limited offer to Nintendo Online members first which isn't even covering half the sold market. Then you still need to buy the thing. Which I doubt the numbers were overwhelmingly great since Nintendo back off the offer in most region already.

It's influence is a marginal print.

As for your last claims. First, the Japanese market which is what I am referring my first post with, isn't still wild in the adoption of digital video games on Nintendo console market. Most of the digital sales numbers confirmed the drop digital adoption after the first few weeks of release. It drops fast which means in the long term. The digital ratio actually loses ground against physical.

Lastly, I'd be interested to know the names of these two 1st party Nintendo games with a digital ratio of 40% and where you found that info.

The only region the vouchers have been stopped in is NA. In the rest of the world they are still available, can be used on AC and are popular because they're good value.
