Forums - Sony Discussion - [Leaked!] PS5 devkit photo shows DualShock 5

Breaking News!

Apparently these devs don't give a damn about leaking lol

For comparison, this is a DS4 prototype controller with a PS4 devkit behind it.

According to twitter user AllGamesDelta, this blurry mess says "Demon's Souls Remake Prototype" in line 2. Some say Ratchet and Clank..

Looks more like a Ratchet & Clank to me. If it would be Demon's Souls, the m of "Demon's" would be too big I guess?

Would be both great, though.

You should add the DualShock 4 to the OP for a easy comparison.

The position of the lightbar is horrible.

That's a prototype DS4 controller next to a PS4 devkit. OP should have clarified this, it's an old picture from before the PS4 launched and wasn't taken at the same time as the PS5 devkit photos.

Yeah, you're right, those aren't the same controller. The alleged DualShock5 in the top photo has a flat top, while that other one in the 2nd pic has a tiered design on the top. The DualShock 5 in the top photo basically just looks like DualShock 4, so much so that it might just be a DualShock 4, I'm not noticing any differences. Handles are shaped the same, as opposed to the thicker handles that we saw on the alleged DualShock 5 patent a couple weeks back. The L1/R1 and L2/R2 buttons are shaped the same. The touchpad is shaped the same. The D-Pad is the same. The Options and Share buttons are still too small.

I believe that the controllers in the top pic are DS5 controllers, or maybe prototypes. They are almost identical to the DS4 but the USB port is higher up, meaning that if it has a light bar, it's probably below that USB port or maybe integrated into the touchpad, like the second design of DS4 controllers.

Damn you Deskpro you beat me making the thread, but please visit my Xbox rumor thread recently.

On topic, Notice 2 PS4 Devkit behind PS5 devkit ?PS5 is twice as big as PS4/PS4 pro devkit. It means PS5 is seriously a monster , it has serius cooling solution . It seems 2 Ghz GPU clock is true after all. PS5 final consumer design probably will be bigger as well bigger then PS4 or even PS4 pro.

That definitely doesn't say Demon's Souls. I have to study it more closely to see if I can make anything out of it.

As for the controller, I can definitely see the different grips. I think I was right in that the lightbar is built into the top of the touch pad. If you zoom in, there's a slight difference in color at the top. My guess is this time you can turn it off. Also, it seems like the face button area is slightly convex. Not sure how that will feel. The Share and Options buttons now seem to be proper ones, instead of the flush, clicky ones on the DS4.

Oh no, a one button D pad. They are terrible in practicality.

Huh?  What are you talking about?  Looks like the one on the DS4.

We need to figure out what it says. To me the 3rd word definitely looks like Studio.

They all seem to be connected in one pad like the xbox vontroller which was and still is a pain to use. Games like FF14 that rely heavily on precision button presses will see a noticeable decrese in skill.

They're not, though.  It's a similar Dpad that is on all the DS controllers.  It is just one piece of plastic, but goes underneath the controller face in the center.  The DS controllers have one of the best Dpads ever.
