Been watching about the first 2 hours of the game and it does look really unique. Just the creepy aspect of it does make me want to check it out.

It makes a better horror game than most horror games :D Playing it is a whole other story, though, more so than most games versus watching them. Some reviewers said the extra controls for traversal are a chore, I think they will become an addition to games targeted at core gamers, in a lesser sense but they really caught onto something here.

OT: I'm absolutely hooked yet I feel like I've barely scratched the surface, it's nearing 7am and if I wasn't an aging old man I'd give into my instant addiction and playe through til breakfest but my mind can't take in the new information that's been thrown at it. It truly is the Dark souls of apocalyptic Fed-Ex wrapped in a kojima shaped bow.

Didn't know this was the discussion thread or I would have posted sooner.

Holy fucking shit this intro is amazing so far.

Very early spoiler for cutscene after first mission clear.

Spoiler!
OMG seeing the body disposal guy try to shoot himself in the head and then proceed to stab himself over and over again to avoid letting the monster get him first.

Not really a spoiler but a discussion of mechanics: The mission completion screen seems to reward fast playtimes over slow ones, correct? Is it that way for distance travelled as well? I noticed I got no reward for my distance or my playtime, but I went slow as heck and looked around a lot (and peed). Total time was 1 hour 5 minutes for that mission and distance was over 2000m.

From movie games with poor mechanics to a walking sim, real creative genius.

Deus Ex (2000) - a game that pushes the boundaries of what the video game medium is capable of to a degree unmatched to this very day.

There's 3 things I need to know:

*potential spoilers*

How much emphasis on horror is there?
Are the cthulu elements a major part of the game?
Is the alt dimension with the undead soilders etc just a minor part of the game?

Now, no spoilers please lol

Like it or not Kojima is a god damn Genius, what a legend!

Maybe when showing spoilers we should include the earliest chapter that people playing can safely read the message.

So far the story has been really fascinating and the game is feeling like a 90+, but obviously three hours is not enough time to tell yet in this massive game. So far so good. And I'm still playing :P

That scene was bloody incredible, even though it was shown at sone event pre launch.

Spoiler!
What I'm left wondering though is why Sams physical body isn't destroyed in the blast when I'm assuming the Chtulu eats his soul or life essence and if the place Sam repatriates from is physical or is there even a soul in this game.

Ah well, time will hopefully reveal it.

As for the delivery ranks. Seems like something that would want to be explained. I think the mosy important favtor is the damage, I can't see much effect on other factors like time.

Put of the 6 hours I've played so far, A lot. The essence of the gameplay when it heightens is horror and tension based. I'd say one part Horror, to one part drama to one part Fed-ex to one part 'wow, look at this lump of moss, it's so pretty'.

The chtulu elements seem to be, at least it's the basis for the entire worlds state and the foundation of the story. And yes, they appear massively in the first hour, rihht from the first minutes to my 6 hours in.

After 6 hours of game time I can't tell yet with the soldier thing yet. I'd put a healthy bet a bigger. Knowing what I know about one of the characters pre release I'd assume that bet with no hesitation but if it'a optional or integrated I can't tell.
