No way I would do a payment plan for a video game console. That is a sign that the console is too expensive.

It costs 0 by 2020. the free version has no subscription and you can use any controller you want or keyboard and mouse. Google confirmed online gaming on Stadia will be free with the free model, something you need to pay 60 bucks a year on consoles. Many were speculating that online gaming would only be accessible with the sub model. |
I know there's a free version but I still don't see why people would buy games for the thing if they cost the same as full priced console games, especially if there is even a hint of input lag or other technical issues.

Maybe there is a market for people that don't want to invest in a hardware to play AAA games whether it is a gaming PC or a console, and are fine in playing games on a low-spec computer/smarphone/tablet they already own.

Well that would be a very niche market. We will see, but it seems like a hard sell to have people buying games at full price for a streaming service where there's absolutely zero sense of ownership. Also, any technical problem will be a disaster as people won't be able to play the games they paid full price for. People already freaked out when the xbox one was announced as an "always need to be online" console.

This is why the subscripsion comes in, it is not only about 4k and 5.1 surround. Subscribers will have free games from times to times and discounts.
Last edited by CuCabeludo - on 30 October 2019Shadow already slashed their prices. Shadow is not a cloud gaming platform, it is a full blown cloud computing service: you pay a subscription to have acces to a top tier PC in the cloud you can use to work and do all stuff you would to a PC locally or stream your Steam games. People that sub Shadow are mostly professionals that use their powerful machines to do work like video editing, but a bunch use it to stream their games on Steam.

The free version has no 4K versions, it is a junk method, actually the whole idea of stadia is garbage.
Without enough local GPU and CPU power and without local storage of game levels, it will work acceptably only for very simple games.

Doom Eternal is looking good on Stadia. Except for the crappy "game journalist level" gameplay.

They will most likely just shut it down like they've done with so many other services they've provided in the past. And the immediate impact of that would be felt strongest by gamers who actually did invest time and money into Stadia. They would lose everything as they owned nothing, with not even locally saved digital copies of their games to show for it. The games simply vanish forever. |
Google stated they don't plan on buying any company or exclusivity like Epic is doing. They are oppening their own first party studios. The first of them was opened in Monteal some days ago. And Google doesn't care if it will take years until we can se a big AAA 1st party title either. They plan to give Stadia support for at least until 2030.
