What if google stadia were to fail?

I know there's a free version but I still don't see why people would buy games for the thing if they cost the same as full priced console games, especially if there is even a hint of input lag or other technical issues. 

Maybe there is a market for people that don't want to invest in a hardware to play AAA games whether it is a gaming PC or a console, and are fine in playing games on a low-spec computer/smarphone/tablet they already own.
